Some of my favorite shots. Currently retired and enjoying my photography hobby. I recently reorganized it since there are now thousands of my images there.

Although I have always loved photography, retirement gave me more time to actually work on taking it to the next level. Years ago I did some film photography, but bought my first 'good' DSLR about 2 years ago. I've made many 'trade ups' in equipment in that time, and have kept fine tuning my skills. I have set up a photo site, minterphotography.com, which redirects to a professional online host site known as smugmug.com. I created a gallery which features what I consider the better ones. If you had a favorite it is still available on the search function. Hopefully you will enjoy viewing them, and ordering some mugs, cards or posters featuring them.

I caught a shot of that GBH flying off. Thankful that he did so I could concentrate more on the eagle circling overhead!

This is one of the Great Blue Herons I saw yesterday. I only got a few of him because the Bald Eagle flying overhead was distracting me.

I now understand how a Golden Retriever probably feels after spotting a second squirrel! in the other direction!

After my attempt to get a photo of that house this morning at sunrise I decided that since I was out very earlier than I usually get out I would take the opportunity to get some late fall photos with the gray skies.

I call this one 'The clean-up crew'

I'm sure the area is a gold mine of corn feed after the left half of the field was cleared.

This was in my usual area near Rte 20 in Richfield Springs. The turkeys were a moderate distance from me, but I decided to use the long lens (600mm) to get the depth look of the rolling hills in the background. I love all the angles and leading lines in this photo!

I got some amazing photos earlier today. Two herons, one of them about 30 feet away from me. A Bald Eagle, circling overhead. And more. I will attempt to post some tomorrow.

As I was working on them, I saw a story about a Halloween house that was very unique, and took a lot of work to accomplish. The old mansion in this photo has projections in the windows, but those bulging eyes are physical additions to the outside of the house.

Imagine my surprise when I read that it wasn't hundreds or thousands of miles away- it was in the next town! I got dressed and raced out to see it and that was after 10pm!

It's the coolest Halloween decoration I have ever seen in person.

BTW, the eye on the left was out and so I did some editing in PS to replace it with a reverse of the one on the right.

AND NO, NOT WITH AI!

Location couldn't be worse as far as access and that is why I am not giving the location. I see some traffic issues in the town's future. There is supposed to be a You-tube about the making of it in the next day or so. I will post that when I find it.

This showed up in my personal "memories" page today. I posted it before I got this page for my photography. I can't believe this was 4 years ago today! Probably the prettiest sunset I have seen. A rare combination of high clouds, zero wind, and open sky at the horizon allowing the sun to light up the clouds.

Back then the image I posted was much smaller- 960x640px
My posts now are 2048x1366 pixels. Great for showing more detail of this beautiful sunset.

With the almost perfect reflection from the water, the illusion when standing near the edge was the sky extending down past the water, almost made you feel disoriented.

One more from Glimmerglass State Park, this is on the same water further upstream. It's known as the Hyde Hall Stone Bridge and it also dates to the 1800's as you can see from the sign.

We have had some nice weather in this area for this time of year, relatively warm for October and very little rain. Unfortunately we are past prime foliage, and the sunny cloudless skies don't make for as many opportunities for great photos. It gave me time to search through some of the archives for more interesting things.

This photo sets the stage for the next season's views. You can't beat a snowy scene with unfrozen streams or other water to reflect it's surroundings. This is the Hyde Hall covered bridge at Glimmerglass State Park in Cooperstown NY. It is listed as the oldest existing covered bridge in both NY State and the United States.

And it sure looks great in a snowy scene!

These are from last week, just before sunset on a totally still evening just as the sun was setting. I thought there was a patch of fog ahead, it happens in the hills here near cool water from springs cause it. It was clear where I shot from with a sharp contrast in the distance.

After taking some photos of the sunset colors through the fog, I drove down the road in that direction- the last photo shows the real source. Farmers doing some late day work in the fields and raising a good cloud of dust on the virtually wind free day.

Still made for some cool images though!!

Previous description was lost due to Facebook desktop showing a 'Save' button next to the 'Post' button. It closes the window immediately but doesn't save it, it's just gone.

If you want the description I took time to write on my first attempt to post these, ask facebook!!!

In the future if you see posts from me with no comment you can assume it happened again. At least a half dozen times over the past month or so.
