MinterPhotography

MinterPhotography Some of my favorite shots. Currently retired and enjoying my photography hobby. I recently reorganized it since there are now thousands of my images there.

Although I have always loved photography, retirement gave me more time to actually work on taking it to the next level. Years ago I did some film photography, but bought my first 'good' DSLR about 2 years ago. I've made many 'trade ups' in equipment in that time, and have kept fine tuning my skills. I have set up a photo site, minterphotography.com, which redirects to a professional online host si

te known as smugmug.com. I created a gallery which features what I consider the better ones. If you had a favorite it is still available on the search function. Hopefully you will enjoy viewing them, and ordering some mugs, cards or posters featuring them.

I worked my way to the classic cars at Sylvan Beach's car show. Quite a few had already left before I got there a short while bfore sunset, but there were still a few amazing ones that remained. I'm posting most of those photos here, although I am holding back a couple from one vehicle that stayed 'til after the sun had set.

This time of year I tend to check a number of weather apps and last night had promise for a great sunset at my favorite spot for them- Sylvan Beach! I called it right this time. The water did have some ripples in spite of the virtually still wind but was relatively flat. The clouds were high in the atmosphere so they were lit by the setting sun nicely, adding some character to the sky.

They also had their classic car meet going on- what a coincidence that two cities on the Erie Canal both have one on Thursdays! I am still working on those photos but wanted to get last night's sunset posted before tonight's happens!

Unfortunately the expected Aurora never materialized. I was hoping for it to get the 'hat trick' I planned. Oh well.

Here are a sunset and a twilight photo for you to enjoy!

Oh, and expect a surprise photo from last night!!!

Shortly after arriving at the marina last night I saw this cool, unique vessel pull in and tie up. I was told that he had made it himself by hand, so I inquired about what kind of hull it was on and was told that even the hull was custom made by him. Most of the exterior was steel framed, with a lot of custom wood work inside.

"They grow up so fast.."

I took this a few days ago on a foggy morning. I didn't post it sooner because Canada geese don't seem to get the love!.

They were walking along the canal at lock 18. I was following at the same speed, camera facing them out the window as they marched along the canal. The bank is raised at this spot, putting my window at their level for a cool perspective IMO

The chicks have started losing much of their baby 'cuteness'.

Taking a photo of a shiny subject into a bright setting sun in early evening isn't exactly recommended. I like to experiment with my photos and I liked the many sun flares it created.

But It got way too late last night while working on this to get the look to the point that I wanted. I think the sun shining off this '57 Bel Air made for a nice image once it was enhanced. This now is more of a 'digital artwork' than photo although nothing was added with AI. All of the sun flares were in the original, just enhanced.

What do you think?

While waiting for the Ospreys to come to the nest this Mourning Dove decided to land near my car and scrounge for feed not far from the car outside my open driver's window. Fortunately with that big lens it still fit in the frame!

The first photo actually caught the sun's reflection off of the iridescent feathers of the neck adding a gold highlight.
