NEST CHECKS: I haven't been out Wildlife looking in awhile and was grateful I was up to it for a few hours today. Bald Eagle nest #38 (I number each one I find and photograph throughout the state. About 6 of the 38 are commonly known by other people. The other 32 I found on my own.) Mom was incubating eggs and dad is bringing her food. They will switch out throughout the incubation and when the Eaglets are born. Red tailed Hawk nest #3. I saw 4 different nests in the Red-tailed Hawk 's immediate territory. 1 was an Owl nest (looked like a Great Horned Owl nest. I have photographed one before. But no Owls. The Owl nest looked untouched but this is the time of year that they nest through the next few months. (They often don't nest in the same place each year). Maybe I'll get lucky and they will still be nesting l, but further out and I will find it. It may be that the Red-tailed Hawks ran them out of that area. The male Red tailed Hawk was there in his territory. They may nest in a different one than last year. 1 of the 3 Hawk nests looked more worked on. It's early for them to nest though but they may be getting an early start on nestorations. I did get photos of all but it takes me a long time to get around to putting them up. It's physically painful for me now on the laptop. I didn't even post the Eaglets from that Eagle nest last year, but I will. I will keep checking back. 👍🏿
