Still kickin it with some of the coolest seniors around. Here’s a little throw back to the fall since these cool mornings are sticking around.

Senior sessions, for most of us, mark a huge life transition and can be one of our first times in front of a camera for a professional shoot. What I love about my seniors, both high school and college, is that they have a clear understanding of who they are, what they want to pour their energy into, and how they want to change their world around them. They have all been so focused on kindness and love and creating a legacy that trails after them and empowers others to create community. I’m always so proud to be around this sort of hungry energy and it always makes for really fun and relaxed sessions.

“ We’ve never had our photos done professionally before. We feel sort of awkward”

All three of my clients from my last week said something really similar to this before each session started. I wanted to show a perfect example of how keeping it simple keeps it natural. Don’t over complicate things in your head, babe!

For slide one I had them sit down in the grass and asked her to comfortably melt into his lap and take their gazes toward the street. I took the shot level with them so the clover drives your eyes up and to them.

For slide two I stepped in front of them slightly and shot from his perspective more so it invites you into the shot with them. I simply asked him to give her a soft kiss on her forehead.

Slide three I had them lay with their heads on the other’s shoulder and I told them to flirt away!

From one little pose we graduate into natural movements with simple direct prompts. Don’t over think it. Empower yourself by practicing before your shoot. That may sound silly but find photos you love and practice in the mirror together. It’s a silly little evening but you’ll find yourself having a good giggle and feeling confident about your session.Make a mood board and share it with me!

The kind of love that doesn’t need direction
just a little space to exist ✨

I would say 99% of my couples say they were nervous before we start their session and surprised by how easy it felt once we end at sunset. The pressure lifts when you realize you’re just boppin through fields with a five foot photographer willing to protect you from snakes and casually taking the most dreamy photos of you and the person you love most.

You know what never sucks?

Evenings spent running around with my couples. I like the old scoot and shoot method when it comes to engagements. This means we are making a little loop around our location it two directions with two outfits. This gives your final gallery fun movement, diverse backgrounds, and honestly makes our session feel like a casual walk before you guys go to dinner. These two have so much love and respect for one another other. It was so easy to fall in love with showing their connection.

There’s something I need everyone to know about this sweet couple. While it’s no secret planning a wedding can have its struggles, these two have planned around some pretty crazy circumstances. They’ve jumped over these obstacles together and with the kindest hearts. Even at her most stressed this woman has met me with love every single step of the way and I couldn’t be more grateful for clients turned friends like her.

These two stepped into the capitol and my jaw hit the floor.
A little back story: I had the pleasure of associate shooting this session for and from the second I got on the phone with Victor I knew we were going to create something beautiful. This man is CRAZY in love with this woman hehe He had devised a plan to hide his secret proposal inside an anniversary session. Devan’s reaction was everything. I loved their connection. I loved seeing how they loved and supported each other through this session. And I LOVED how surprised and excited she got the second it all started to sink in.

You won’t find more gentle souls than these two.

Our engagement session at Tower Grove Park was the perfect blend of late summer and early fall — warm air, soft light, and that slow kind of evening you don’t want to rush.

So what actually makes an engagement session unforgettable?

Three things:
1. Name the season you’re in.
Not just “we’re engaged.”
Are you building something? Healing something? In your chaotic, can’t-stop-laughing era?
When you define the feeling, the photos stop looking posed and start feeling like memory.
2. Make it a micro-adventure.
Standing still feels awkward. Doing something together creates chemistry.
Walk your favorite path. Explore somewhere new. Do something that feels like you.
Momentum = magic.
3. Drop the performance.
The best photos don’t happen when you’re trying to look good.
They happen when you feel safe.
Tell me what makes you laugh. Tell me what feels natural.
I’ll handle the rest.

For J+B, the perfect date is a walk through their favorite park to catch up, decompress, and enjoy the water (and the ducks, obviously).

Listen, I know. I hear the people saying a flat lay detail is out, but you can pry these shots from my cold, dead, but well moisturized hands. And I promise you want to be a part of this love club. I have SO MANY amazing moments from K+J’s wedding. They came all the way from Utah with their family and friends to get married in Hot Springs at Anthony Chapel. It’s an honor to be invited into these beautifully private days full of people who care for everyone around them and hug you like family after only just meeting you. I wanted this photo to have its place to stand alone on the grid for three reasons:

1. I friggin love it 💜
2. There’s snow on the ground on a 70 degree day in February ❄️
3. I love the way these two cherish one another ✨

I got your picture and it was worth battling that champagne cork for !

Pardon my emo pop punk heart showing 🖤 but these two seriously break the wedding mold. A+J have personality for freaking days and I was thrilled when asked for me to second shoot this wedding with him. Ash has this electric way of pulling you into her atmosphere and immediately setting you at ease. Jackson has this quiet intensity about him that makes you feel seen from the second you meet and my gosh when he turns his eyes to Ash, you can FEEL the room tilt. These two are crazy, stupid, adorable. Swipe through for the perfect example of sexy, elegant, and remaining true to who you are on wedding day.
