Kerry J. McGehee Photography I'm an award-winning fine art nature photographer, based in N. California, shooting macro and landscape. Thank you very much!

I'm an award-winning, fine art photographer - first camera love at age 9 with my Kodak Instamatic. I developed my craft early on, due to my mother's hobby influence (I don't remember a time when my mom did NOT have her camera with her), and later in life by my amazing garden and the beautiful surroundings of life in Northern California. I relish in taking pictures of my subjects close-up, showing

what's often over-looked. I feel one can best understand and appreciate the delicacy and beauty in nature, if one would only look closer. My garden's fertile soil is a favorite place to catch those exceptional moments. I also enjoy landscape photography with so many impressive views in California, and the clean, creative lines architecture provides through my lens. My artistic influences are painters Botticelli, Van Gogh, Maxfield Parrish, Marc Chagall, Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keefe, colorful nature photographer Eliot Porter, Macro artist Harold Davis, and the astounding work of the National Geographic photographers. I'd like to give a special shout out to Linda McCartney, may she RIP, who's cool photography perspective I embraced in my early teens. If you are interested in learning more about my work, or in purchasing prints, please check out my website, KJMPhotos.com, and/or please contact me @ my email; [email protected], or through my page.

Very excited to announce a new exhibit with my photography!

Three of my photographs were selected for a new and upcoming art exhibit called “America in Art - 250 Years of Shared Creativity “. I’ve been excited about this one as it takes part within the wonderful semiquincentennial celebrating America’s 250th birthday 🎉 🎉🎉

“Viewers will discover both nostalgic and contemporary perspectives, with artists sharing personal, cultural, and community stories that reflect the diversity and complexity of the nation. Visitors to the exhibit can expect a wide-ranging visual journey from rural and urban environments to symbolic imagery and lived experiences, offering many viewpoints on how America has been seen, felt, and imagined over the past 250 years“.

Exhibit is open now and runs through July 25 at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery in the Bankhead Theater lobby. Art reception is this Saturday, May 16th, from 2 to 4 PM, and open to the public. On display; “Livermore Fourth of July”, “Sweet Droplets of Liberty “, and “The Biggest Cowboy in Livermore” all in acrylic. Hope to see you at the Gallery!

As a nature photographer, earth is my favorite subject. It is my escape, it is my passion, it is my inspiration.

The V.A. hospital in the town I live in sits on gorgeous grounds with wild turkeys, lots of deer and other wildlife. There are also many trees. I found this gorgeous Willow amongst them on a foggy morning.

Breathtakingly beautiful!

NASA has released the first full image of Earth in 54 years.

The photo was taken from the Orion spacecraft, which is currently traveling to the Moon.

The last time Earth was photographed in its entirety from deep space was in 1972 during the Apollo 17 mission. Since then, such images have been created by stitching together multiple shots taken from Earth’s orbit.

“(A) Negative is like the composer score - all the information is there. And then the print is a performance. So you interpret this score at various aesthetic emotional levels, but never far enough away to violate the essential concept.”
~ Ansel Adams.

I’m very excited to announce that one of my landscape “scores” of Livermore Valley was selected to perform“ along side the Livermore-Amador Symphony (with guest conductor Geoffrey Gallegos) on April 11th 2026, at the Bankhead Theater, for a delightful film presentation in the new exhibit “Spring Awakenings”! There were over 100 entries for this exhibit, but only 16 works of art were selected.

My photograph, “Vineyard Splendor”, along with 15 other selected works of art, will be transformed into a silent-film-style presentation set to live music - a vibrant program featuring Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” and music of Glazunov and Schumann that brings the sound of nature to life. Tix are still available at the theater and online https://livermorearts.org/events/las-spring-awakenings/

In addition, my 30” x 40” photograph will be “performed” on canvas along with other selected works of art in a special display this year‘s annual Livermore spring art show at the Bothwell art center!

Alfred Hitchcock’s movie, “The Birds”, was released on this day in 1963. Of course this movie was a big hit. It certainly influenced me enough to want to recreate it! I had a lot of fun putting this photograph together. I unveiled it on Halloween of 2017, along with a Halloween tale I wrote called “The Green Jacket“. 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

Happy New Year, friends!

I hope 2026 is finding you happy and healthy thus far. I, myself, have been battling probably one of the nastiest bacterial infections of my life! In fact, my dad picked it up for me and now he’s in the hospital battling pneumonia! So yes, I pray that your new year has started out on the right foot🙏🏻

I thought I’d share this wonderful reel of the even more wonderful Mr. Adams… He always has said it best. The print is a performance! I hope to be sharing many performances with you in the coming year!
