On 8/29/25 Norfolk Southern gave Amtrak a helping hand on their Pennsylvanian run. Don't blink or your going to miss this thundering horse go past the Cassandra Railroad overlook.

On 8/29/25 we caught a Norfolk Southern empty coal drag at Cassandra Railroad overlook on the Pittsburg line. We found heritage unit 1069 (Virginian a SD70ACE) and Red Maine 4002 (One of the "Sonic Units" a AC44C6M) running mid train as DPU.

Here we see SD70ACU helpers cutting loose at speed and stopping to prepare to head back to Altoona from Cresson. This is the first time we ever have seen the helpers cut at speed. It was pretty cool to see.
