Dave Stockton has been an institution on the WNY music scene since the 1970s. I wasn't even drawing pictures then let alone taking taking photographs.
He plays solo, with a duo, in a trio and more. His bands have been known as The Money Band and Pocket Change. He has a reserve of talented musicians that will back him by rotating in and out of The Pocket Change Band.
On a recent Saturday evening, "Doc" Stockton played a gig a Lock 34 in downtown Lockport. He asked for a photo shoot with this makeup of Pocket Change in preparation of an upcoming show at the Kenan Center's Taylor Theater. The show will feature a host of rare "Doc" originals and classic cover tunes.
In the photos you will find "Doc" on lead guitar/vocals, Chris "The Maestro" Peracciny on saxophone, Matt Rutschmann on bass/vocals and Matthew Knott on drums.
Dave is a Lockport guy through and through. He was featured in the recent America's Stairway documentary on PBS highlighting Lockport's historic Flight of Five locks in the canal. Through the 1970s he documented the destruction of Lockport's Main Street known as urban renewal. He is a passionate preservationist and advocate for all things Lockport.
Here are a few photos from the shoot.
