What you don’t see is Kylie Dotson, Lawrence Dotson and I dripping in sweat, chasing these little girls through the fields and around the ponds in Midwest humidity. I think it was worth it! If you’ve booked with me, you know I would rather let kids do their thing than try to make them pose. It’s a short season of life and to me, it’s not worth tears if we can avoid them. Sometimes I get the best images with a documentary style approach with kids (and let’s be honest, sometimes husbands too.) Genuine smiles and real laughs are what I aim for!

Jenn asked for a documentary style approach at the park and I thought “say less”. Kids don’t want to be posed. They want to run around freely and that’s exactly what we let Rowan do. We played and chased him around the park before the heat of the day. Now we’ll have to take him back to the same park once he’s older and compare his growth!

There’s something so special about seeing a hometown friend you haven’t seen in a long time and meeting her sweet baby girl. Alaina, you are so loved already.

Candice asked if I would come to her home for a session and honestly, these are some of my favorite sessions. They’re sentimental, personable and we can take our time! I’ll share more later but for now, enjoy these from her beautiful backyard. Their first born, Ralph was a 10/10 good boy, too.
