A year ago today is when my life truly started. After months of waiting, building furniture, feeling your little kicks when you heard my voice from outside the womb, and making sure your mama had whatever her latest craving was (lots and lots of hot chicken) — there you were, out in the world and in my arms. You grabbed my pinky finger within the first second of seeing me, and I made you a pinky promise that I’ll always protect and love you. That Daddy will always be there for you, forever.
It’s been the best year of my life being your best bud. You’ve grown so much from that tiny little body that once fit along my forearm where you’d lay. Now you crawl up to me, climb into my lap, and look up at me, waiting for forehead kisses and to watch Thomas & Friends with Daddy. You’re my little knight with your mighty steed (your puppy, CJ). You do the “dada dance” every time I walk in the room, and clap and smile when I say, “I’m so proud of you.”
I am so proud of you. I always will be. Daddy loves you so so so much. More than you’ll ever know!
You’re my star made from stardust from the creation of the universe. Made up of millions of atoms in the earth, rivers, and sky that all became a part of your mama and dada. Our love rekindled you and now you’re hear as radiant and beautiful as ever.
And to my darling bride, thank you, thank you, thank you. I can’t thank you enough for everything you do for our family and especially our precious baby boy. From the trauma of birth and the rough nights with him learning the growing pains of this world to the unlimited amounts of joy and laughter we’ve had over this year. You’ve formed our family and made our boy so strong and full of love and life. Thank you. I love you so so much.
