A lot of couples quietly worry about this before their wedding ceremony:

“What if I get overwhelmed in front of everyone?”

Not because they aren’t excited.
Not because they aren’t deeply in love.

But because weddings can be… a lot.

The attention.
The expectations.
The noise.
The pressure to react “correctly.”
The feeling of being watched the entire time.

And for neurodivergent couples especially, the ceremony itself can start to feel less like a meaningful moment… and more like something to survive.

Your wedding ceremony should feel safe.
Grounding.
Comfortable.
Like you.

That’s why I approach ceremonies differently.

I adapt to my couples instead of forcing them into a wedding performance.

Some want playful energy.
Some want calm reassurance.
Some want detailed walkthroughs and predictability.
Some want a short low-pressure ceremony.
Some even choose to legally marry privately beforehand so the ceremony itself feels easier.

There’s no “correct” way to experience a wedding day.

There’s only your way.

If you’ve been quietly worrying about how the ceremony will feel, this page was written for you. 💛

You love the idea of having a friend or family member marry you. Honestly? I get it. The best ceremonies feel personal — not stiff, scripted, or like a stranger showed up and read generic words off a page.

But then the panic sets in…

Can they legally do it?
Will the paperwork be correct?
What if they freeze in front of everyone?
What if the ceremony feels awkward instead of natural?
What if something goes wrong and nobody knows how to recover?

Here’s the truth: weddings always have little unexpected moments. The difference is having someone experienced enough to make those moments feel effortless instead of stressful.

That’s why I created a guide for couples trying to figure out how to have the warmth of a friend-led ceremony without risking the experience (or the legal side of your marriage).

Whether:
✨ you want a professional officiant who feels like a trusted friend
OR
✨ you want coaching for the friend/family member officiating your wedding

…I walk through both options here.

A great reason to elope!

FLORIDA WOMAN DETAINED AFTER POURING GLITTER INTO HER SISTER'S HVAC VENTS 3 DAYS BEFORE HER ENGAGEMENT PARTY

BOCA RATON, FL — A 31-year-old Palm Beach County woman was detained Tuesday afternoon after allegedly pouring 2 full pounds of fine craft glitter into her older sister's home HVAC vents — 3 days before her sister's engagement party was scheduled to be hosted at the property.

Sloane Hartwell was taken into custody at 3:47 p.m. after her sister, identified as Madison Hartwell-Reyes, 34, returned home from a final dress fitting to find her entire house "shimmering."

Per the arrest report, Sloane had reportedly been "passed over" as maid of honor in favor of Madison's college roommate — a decision the sisters had been quietly feuding about for 6 weeks.

Per the affidavit, Sloane entered Madison's Boca Raton home Tuesday morning at approximately 11:14 a.m. using a spare key she had never returned after dog-sitting in 2024.

Once inside, Sloane allegedly:

- Removed the covers from all 9 HVAC floor and ceiling vents
- Poured fine multicolor craft glitter directly into each vent opening
- Used a handheld leaf blower set to "low" to distribute the glitter through the duct system
- Turned the thermostat to 68°F to ensure the system would run for hours
- Replaced each vent cover exactly as she found them
- Left a single rose gold glitter heart on the kitchen counter

Madison reportedly walked through the front door at 3:14 p.m. and immediately noticed a "twinkling" coming from the air vents. Within 11 minutes, every surface of the home — including the engagement party seating chart laid out on the dining table — was coated in fine glitter.

A residential HVAC technician estimated the cost of cleaning the duct system at $4,200 and noted the glitter would likely "continue resurfacing for years."

When deputies arrived at Sloane's apartment, she was reportedly seated calmly on her balcony drinking a glass of rosé and answered the door wearing a bathrobe.

She allegedly told officers, "She made her choice. I made glitter."

Sloane was charged with criminal mischief and trespassing. The engagement party was relocated to a venue.😊😊😊

Planning a wedding is exciting—until the moving pieces start piling up.

At first, it seems simple. Find a venue. Choose a date. Pick the people you love most and celebrate together. But then the questions start coming quickly.

Who is creating the ceremony itself?
Who is making sure it feels personal instead of generic?
Who is helping guide the timing so it flows naturally?
Who is making sure everyone can actually hear your vows?
Who is coordinating music cues?
Who is setting the tone once the ceremony ends and cocktail hour begins?

Many couples don’t realize how many important details live inside those first moments of the day until they’re trying to manage them all at once.

Too often, the ceremony becomes something pieced together between vendors, borrowed equipment, rushed scripts, playlists, family favors, and crossed fingers.

And that’s a shame—because your ceremony is not a formality.

It is the emotional heartbeat of the wedding day.

It is the moment your guests settle in, laugh, tear up, and feel the significance of what’s happening. It is the beginning of the celebration. When it feels warm, polished, and effortless, everything that follows feels elevated too.

That’s why so many couples are looking for more than a standard officiant.

They want someone who can create a ceremony that actually feels like them. Someone who can bring calm energy into the room. Someone who understands how to hold the moment, guide the flow, and quietly handle details others overlook.

Sometimes that means helping with ceremony audio so every word is heard clearly.

Sometimes it means creating a graceful transition into cocktail hour with live piano as guests celebrate and settle into the evening.

Sometimes it simply means having one trusted person who can carry multiple important moments with confidence and care.

At Joyous Engagements, that’s exactly the experience couples come for.

Warm, custom ceremonies. Thoughtful guidance. Seamless support. Elevated touches that make the day feel easier and more beautiful from beginning to end.

Couples often tell me they felt calm the moment I arrived. That the ceremony felt genuine. That guests mentioned how personal it was. That the transition into celebration felt smooth and joyful.

That’s the difference thoughtful support makes.

You only get one chance at this moment.

It deserves more than “good enough.” It deserves to feel effortless, memorable, and deeply you.

If that sounds like the kind of wedding experience you want, send me your date and venue and let’s start creating something beautiful together.

Is your live music playing what your audience wants to hear? Or what they want to play?

There are two types of live musicians.

The thing is. As a musician who plays by ear…

If I’ve heard a song, I can play it. If I don’t know it, for sure I’d promise it after my next break.
