Some projects feel different from the very first call.
Rachel and I hadn’t met before this shoot. She was preparing to be featured in a magazine that only publishes once a year.
She reached out through a friend who begged me to take the job, because she knew I will enjoy it.
I decided to at least have a call with Rachel and check if I was going to be interested. When we spoke, Rachel told me she wanted the photos to feel genuine. Not staged. Not forced. Just real.
These days, I don’t take on many photography jobs.
I’m selective about the people I work with because I care as much about the experience as I do about being on alignment.
From our first conversation, I could tell Rachel’s energy and purpose would align with how I like to create.
I spent days planning this session—gathering references, mapping out the story, and making sure she’d feel confident before, during, and after.
When shoot day came, she was ready.
We talked through every detail, tried different ideas, and kept the atmosphere easy.
By the end, she shared that she’d never felt so comfortable in front of a camera.
