Spring used to be the season i liked the least. No snow to play in, no fun fall festivities, still too cold to swim. What’s awesome about that?
But somewhere between my childhood ache for excitement and becoming the mom in the relationship I found the joy of springtime: new life. And i must say, new life is addictive. That’s why we’re drawn to smelling the flowers and growing our families.

If you live in the mountains you know how long winters here can be, especially this year. So enjoy the sunshine, embrace the spring, celebrate new life, let things get a little messy, and don’t forget to water the grass đŸȘŽđŸƒđŸŒ· because the grass grows best where you water it

Watching families like this beautiful one grow will forever be the best part of my jobđŸ„č

The day I became a mother, my life changed forever - and completely for the better đŸ€

I may not remember the state capitals anymore, but I can tell you her favorite song this week. I may look tired, but I was her safe place all night long. The sink is full of dishes, the laundry hamper is overflowing, and somehow my heart has never felt fuller. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her.

From the moment I found out I was becoming a mom, I knew I had found my purpose - and I know so many other mothers feel the same. To all the moms who have invited me into their rawest, most intimate moments and trusted me to document even a small piece of their journey through motherhood: thank you. It means more to me than I can put into words.

This is exactly why I’m so passionate about documenting the illuminating journey of motherhood and the primal bond between a mother and her child. Because this little girl is my whole world, and I know your children are yours too.

From one mom to another, Happy Mother’s Day đŸ’—đŸ“đŸŒŒđŸȘ»

Bring me your ideas. Even if it feels silly. Even if you’ve seen it done before. Even if you feel it isn’t “aesthetic.” Even if it’ll be a challenge with the kids. Even if it’s different. Even if you’ve never seen it done before.

Mariah told me she had this idea that she couldn’t get out of her head: a pizza night at home with her family for her 1/2 baked maternity photos. It felt natural to her and something her family would do on the reg, which is what i adore! A simple evening doing something you would normally do with who you love to do it withâ™„ïžđŸ•

I cannot wait for all the creative sessions this summer! Bring me all your ideasđŸ„č let’s roll in the sand, jump in the lake, play in the garden, feed the chickens, split an ice cream. All the special memories you want in your albums! You want your photos to feel like you, so why not do something you would usually do with the ones you love? đŸŒŠđŸ«›đŸ§ƒđŸŒž

They’ll never be this small again. Those little feet that kicked your belly will grow stronger. Those tiny toes that you pretended to eat to get some giggles will change. But the memory? The feeling? That will stay with you forever.

Isn’t it crazy to think that two people fall in love, decide they want to do life together, and then create more life? You put your money together, build a home, raise the kids, and choose each other everyday. Your home is your love. It’s quiet at times - like when you’re sitting in the nursery glider at 3am while the rest of the world is sleeping. Other times it’s loud - little feet stomp through the halls with squeals of joy as they’re being chased around.

Your kitchen sink where the bottles get washed, the dining table where your kids learned to spell their name, the front porch where they ran to greet daddy coming home from work: it all tells a story. This is why I love in-home sessions. They capture your special space and how it feels to be in your home with your family.

Nothing you do as a parent will ever be perfect. But someday your kids will grow up to tell the story of what it was like to grow up in your home. Fill it with love, understanding, and patience.

Connection is where is all beginsđŸ€

Sometimes it’s loud. Two souls meet and automatically explode. And sometimes it’s quiet. Two beings recognize each other and share a softness. Connection is felt, not always heard.

In a world that moves so fast it’s wonderful when you meet someone you can exist with softly. Someone you can get lost with. It’s those healthy connections that bring peace.

Women are astounding.

They get pregnant. Grow the baby. Carry the baby. Nourish the baby with their body. While they’re recovering. While they’re exhausted. They lose sleep. Forget the lyrics to their favorite songs but remember every birth stat. Women rebuild their bodies. Then they look back and say “that was awesome”. And do it again.

The delivery room can be traumatic but it’s also empowering. It’s fleeting. And for some, it’s one of the most addictive experiences they’ll ever have. Celebrate it. Honor it. Document it. No woman leaves that place the same as how they came.

A season to be inspired and authentic✹

My daughter’s bedroom - well, my entire house really - is thrifted. Molly and I call it treasure hunting and see what kind of hidden gems we can find together. There’s nothing more fun than dilly dallying around a thrift store and appreciating things that have stories beyond our years. When searching for a mama for this session, Haley was the most perfect choice. Her love of antiques and vintage items made this session so special and true to herđŸ€ While roaming aisles of random trinkets we chatted about our little ones and celebrated the new life she was preparing to welcome into her world.

The thought of nursery pieces that have been so special to so many and continue with another growing family is something I will never get over. And I would be lying if I said I didn’t go home with somethingđŸ€
