I really enjoyed attending the IEA Region 7 Finals in Whitesboro last weekend. Clara Eaton won 1st place in ranch riding. I am so proud of her.

Today we highlight Officer Becknauld. Prior to beginning his civilian law enforcement career, Officer Becknauld served in the United States Army as a K9 handler in the military police. After leaving the military, Officer Becknauld owned and operated two CiCi's pizza restaurants in the Waco area.

Officer Becknauld has worked for the Lorena Police Department since 2010 and holds a Master Peace Officer license. Officer Becknauld is married to his wife of 27 years, has three kids, and a sheltie named, Bella.

Officer Becknauld stated, "I am humbled and honored to be a member of the City of Lorena Police Department and I appreciate the interaction and support I experience daily with the citizens of Lorena."

Chief's note: I have had the fortune of knowing Officer Becknauld for the past 20 years. He is not only an asset to this organization, he is also a friend. Thank you Officer Becknauld for your continued dedication to your internal and external partners!

Today we introduce Officer Board. Officer Board began his law enforcement career in 1989 and has been a part of the Lorena Police Department since 2011. Officer Board has experience in both patrol and criminal investigations and is also certified as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. Officer Board holds a master peace officer license and is certified as an instructor through our state regulatory agency, TCOLE.

Chief's note: I have had the pleasure of working with Officer Board throughout my career. Officer Board brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organization and is constantly building positive relationships within the community.

Today's highlighted officer is K9, Drogen. Drogen is a 4-year-old black and red sable German Shephard born in Poland and his name in German means, narcotics. Drogen has been with the Lorena Police Department since December 2020. He holds national certifications in narcotics detection and patrol, including searching, area searches, tracking, article searches, and apprehension. Drogen is responsible for numerous arrests and seizures of narcotics to include; co***ne, he**in, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and ma*****na. Drogen enjoys riding with his partner, destroying Kong toys and loves to catch frisbees.

Chief's note: Drogen is a tremendous asset to our organization. Because of his skill set, Drogen is called upon by many outside agencies to assist in their cases. Whether it is fugitive apprehension, searching for narcotics, or searching for a missing child, Drogen has proved himself time and time again. He is also more photogenic than the rest of our staff :)
