We had such a great time at Photo London. I had work at the Iconic booth and met the photo curator at the National Portrait Gallery USA. Elizabeth Waterman was at the other end of the hall showing her work with Albumen Gallery. A pretty perfect London trip.

Two weeks ago, we headed to London for Photo London. Elizabeth Waterman ’s gallery there, Albumen Gallery , gave her half the booth to show new work from her project, Propulsion. So proud to see this work out in the world.

Remembrance of Things Past: This brings back memories. There is a very good and practical reason I do not live or shoot in Boston anymore. I think we were waiting in the cold for a dead firefighter to be pulled out of a building for hours. I was heating my sneakers on the exhaust of an ambulance until the tops melted from the heat differential.

Oh, give me a cozy studio with good catering, please!!

I believe this is from George Rizer of the The Boston Globe. Thank you.

In the digital age, dominated by smartphones, watches, and glasses that capture photos in an instant, billions of photographs are captured every day. Sunsets, dinners, concerts, streets, people, places, and things have never been photographed in history as much as now. People are constantly taking haphazard photos to publish on social media. Making photographs begins with taking photos. Make no mistake, there is a purposeful difference between taking photos and making photographs.

History tends to simplify things.

When it comes to punk, that simplification usually starts and ends with New York and London. CBGB & OMFUG. S*x Pistols. The Clash . Those stories are well-documented, mythologized, and repeated so often that they’ve become accepted as the full picture.

But that version leaves something out.

There’s a saying that the highest form of flattery is imitation. In photography, that’s only true if imitation is used as a starting point, not a place to stay.

Every photographer begins by studying others. You learn composition, lighting, framing, and timing by observing what works. But there comes a point where that approach stops serving you. The real shift happens when the question changes—from “How did they shoot this?” to “What do I see in this?” and eventually, “What do I prefer?”

What defines a signature photography style? Michael Grecco shares how discipline, lighting, and storytelling shape a lasting visual identity.

Punk was a unique challenge to rock music. By the mid-1970s, rock ‘n’ roll music was comfortably entrenched as the mainstream cash machine of corporations. Creativity was hatching from discontent, frustration fueled by a rebellious frustration against the co-opted music that was the revolution. The young and discontent in the suburbs and urban forgotten neighborhoods were simultaneously leading the change on two sides of the Pond, New York and London.

By Jimmy Steinfeldt Los Angeles, CA (The Hollywood Times) 4-16-26 Jimmy Steinfeldt: How often do you clean your lens? Michael Grecco: (laughs) I try not to get it dirty to begin with. When I was a photo journalist you were taught to put a UV filter on the camera. We try not to touch the lens

In the early 80s, Adam Ant was the epitome of Punk. By that time Punk was a music, culture, lifestyle and art, Adam Ant pushed it to pure theater. Punk was an organic DIY genre of music that emerged around the world as the antithesis of the taming of rock n’ roll. Once despised by mainstream society as the music of the devil, in the late 70s it became a cash machine for record companies, producers and millionaire acts.
