I’m excited to announce that this coming year in 2023, I’m going to be shifting my focus towards sessions only with families, couples, and elopements! I will no longer be photographing weddings.

I loved the experience but have found that I’m much happier photographing (and can more candidly capture) more intimate settings. I believe I’ve found my niche in this big pool of photographers and that is:

Capturing families or couples in a relaxed, playful setting. People doing something they love, or exploring a place with someone they love 💛

Take THIS session as an example! Kids will give you more smiles and *genuine* emotion when you incorporate activities they love! I find that people care much more about these candid moments caught on camera than the rigidly posed ones where they’re trying to get the crying baby to smile at the camera in JCPenny 😂

super excited for all these precious moments I’ll get to capture! hope everyone has a wonderful weekend 🍂

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect day. Cruz and Megan’s elopement was soo relaxed, intentional, and meaningful. There wasn’t a dry eye in the ✨mountains✨ when they exchanged their nearly identical romantic vows. Megan said “Are you sure you didn’t sneak a peek at my vows?!!” as Cruz read his 😂

The way their family showed up for them was just wonderful! Literally hiking up a mountain at sunrise… while cheering them on I might add!!! It just made me see how some elopements really should have family included.

I fell in love with their newly blended family, their love story, and adorable puppy who they got to include! I’m beyond excited to share more of this day with you all! And my biggest hope is that this will inspire you to have your own special wedding day that focuses on YOU. And if that means bringing just a few people then PERFECT. Do it. You’ll thank yourself later

p.s. put a lil 👀 in the comments if you can spot the waterfall Cruz is pointing at 😂

Ahhh nothing like grapes to keep a lil tot happy through the whole session 🍇

Another wonderful date capturing this beautiful family. Last time I photographed Oliver he was fresh out of the oven!!! 🍞 Now he has SUCH a personality! So expressive, silly, sassy, giggly, and funny lil toddler! Kids are seriously the best to photograph because they don’t give a f*** LOL. They just do their own lil thing without a care in the world. I feel like us adults could learn a lot from our lil ones hahaha 😝

My top 3 tips for planning your outfits during a session 💖

1. Match the vibe of the location — if you’re in nature, wear casual clothing that still makes you feel confident! & wear comfortable shoes!!! If you’re in a city/bar/garden maybe dress up! You’ll compliment your surroundings so much more
2. Dress like yourself— if you love wearing a comfy sweater + jeans, wear that! Don’t feel like you need to show up as someone else. You want to look at those photos and see YOU. Karla is a great example of this in the first photo. She’s always dressed up, so she dressed up for her session! But that’s not everyone! Just remember, don’t do what you *think* you should do. Just do you.
3. Dress for the weather ❄️☀️ If it’s cold, dress warm! It’s not fun being freezing and we want to have fun during your session! Plussss, beanies, flannels, layers are super cute!

Washington is out of this world beautiful. There’s just no place like it and I can’t believe I’ve been deprived of her beauty for SO LONG. The vivid greenery is unmatched 🌿 like literally as green as that emoji if not greener LOL

I’m so grateful that my first time in Washington was shared with the coolest, down to earth couple. They were like kids.. fully immersed with the space around them (in the beeest way!) We were out here climbing trees, touching leaves/funky looking mushrooms, jumping on rocks in the river… all while being as dumb and hilarious as can be LOL. I loved every second with them!

I can’t wait to visit again this summer for Cruz + Megan’s elopement!!! Ahhhhhh! ✨

Dianna and Marcel’s pups are a big part of their life and bring them so much happiness. So when planning their session I knew whatever we did we HAD to include them. They’re silly, rambunctious, and messy—it was perfectly chaotic! We had so much fun! 😂

Whatever way you can bring a special part of you… DO IT. I’ve had couples incorporate their favorite hobby, instrument, or activity and they always feel much more at ease! Always helps ease those photography jitters :3

One of the questions I asked Rhea + Bill in a post-wedding questionnaire was what advice would you give to future couples who are getting married:

“We’re biased, but definitely recommend an intimate wedding. Less stress, no drama, and really allows you to appreciate and savor all the little and big moments of the day. Also, hire Haley as your photographer because she’s dope af!!!”
- R + B

And ok that last part now I FEEL biased but as someone who had an intimate wedding herself, I HIGHLY agree! 🫶 There’s warmth and comfort in knowing that only your closest people are there for you.

p.s. how f***ing cute are they? 😤

When photographing couples I always encourage them pretend my camera doesn’t exist and to avoid looking at me. Not an easy task. Being photographed is super vulnerable. But you know what makes it easier?

Being somewhere you love or have always wanted to go. Soaking in that gorgeous scenery. Look at the beach, mountains, forest, city instead!

Also…. Your partner! Take them in. Notice/remember all their sweet lil features. Smile, dimples, brown eyes.. etc. It’s honestly a really sweet time to just reconnect with your partner. Holding someone’s gaze has been proven to increase attraction. So check them out already and kiss them all over like you did when you were younger!!

Choose an activity you’re passionate about or have been wanting to try with your partner! I can’t emphasize this one enough! It’s way easy to forget about being photographed when you’re doing something you find fun. Think: hiking, fishing, rock climbing, etc.!

What’s a hobby you love that you think would be really cool to have documented with your partner?!

I said “Give me your best vogue post” and Bill ate that s*** up! 🗣 This was ✨his✨ moment!

I smiled so much editing these sneak peek photos and I hope you feel the joy from this day!!!One of my favorite moments was Bill & Rhea slow dancing to their family dramatically yelling out the lyrics to Careless Whisperer (scroll to slide #5 😂)

Outfit tip to make your photo ✨pop✨

Contrast your environment and/or your partner. Take this lil cutie as an example! Nicole wore bold colors against the white background/blue sky. Because of this she stands out from her background and doesn’t get lost in it!

Let’s say you wanted to wear something beige. It’s probably best your partner wears something dark: brown, black, navy, etc. Now if you wanted to wear beige but you’re in the desert… probably best to go with another color that compliments the environment. There are always exceptions to these “rules” but just a good tip to keep in mind ☺️
