I found this young man gazing off the Santa Monica pier last week. It felt as if time stopped for me, and allowed me to take this photo of him. He reminded me of myself when I first moved to California. I remember looking down the beach in the same exact spot he was; realizing why I decided to move away from everything that was comfortable in my life and venture out into the unknown. It was not for the nice beaches and scenic views like this one, it was for the opportunities that arise as a result of living in a hub of creative do-ers. Moving was the key to a new door of friendships, partnerships and opportunities to grow as a photographer and as a human being. Soon it will be time to take more chances and make more leaps of faith, in a new location, further outside of my growing comfort zone; but for now, there is more work to be done and more skills to acquire, so it's back to work for me!
