Throwback to this test shoot I did of my absolute favorite nail polish system: 💅✨

It’s genuinely the best nail polish system I’ve ever used!!! Not exaggerating!!! If applied properly, it lasts 7+ days without chipping. No gels. No UV. No joke. 
I’ve tested a lot of polish over the years (occupational hazard, lol) and this one takes the cake, baby!!

Some client partnerships don’t just grow your portfolio, they grow you.

helped shape the product photographer I am today. 
From 2020–2023 (four years), I stepped into the role as their e-commerce photographer, photographing hundreds of press-on nail designs and shooting new collections nearly every month. We developed a custom nail tip template for consistency, I built a Photoshop action for seamless color changes, and together we created a visual library that evolved as the brand grew. 
And as they expanded, so did I. 
Working with them pushed me to level up, including finally investing in a macro lens about a year in (still not sure how I survived without that upgrade 😅). Every shoot sharpened my eye, refined my workflow, and strengthened my confidence as a creative. 
They were my first consistent client. They trusted me. They kept coming back.

And that consistency shaped my career more than they probably realize.

They sadly closed down in 2023 and I really miss them. I miss the rhythm of those shoots. I miss the excitement of each new special collection drop. 💅🏻

Category icons rebuilt with intention. 
For this DTC refresh with our goal was clear:
 Create category imagery that feels credible, minimal, and premium, with enough negative space to support cropping across digital touchpoints (paid ads, website, and CRM), while striking a thoughtful balance between science and lifestyle.

Working directly from the brief, we developed:  • 6 category image icons, each aligned to specific hex color codes pulled from product labels • 6 lifestyle images that bring real-world wellness into the visual system • Multiple hero shot variations grounded in Metagenics’ signature dark blue brand color 
Every image was built with usability in mind: clear labeling, clean compositions, and a refined color story designed to build trust and perform consistently across platforms.

The scent of these beeswax candles took me straight back to my childhood, dipping taper candles by hand at the annual Pioneer Day festival in my home state of Michigan. 🐝🕯️
 That memory? Warm, golden, and a little earthy. 💛And that’s exactly the vibe we leaned into for this shoot with

The timing wasn’t quite right when we first connected last fall, but as soon as I introduced my new Content Packages, they jumped in immediately with the Emerge package, and it turned out to be the perfect fit! 😊 
We captured earthy tones, playful shadows, and that warm handcrafted feeling that makes their candles so special. 🔥

Same product. Same setup. Two different shots.

The key difference? Prop selection, and a subtle shift in background shadows.

Both background shadows were shot in-camera (not in Photoshop). I adjusted the light in-studio to create that dynamic shadow play.

Which one draws you in more: 1 or 2?

Also, I keep a bottle of this “Spirit Lifter” shea-butter lotion on my nightstand, and the carnation + lavender aroma is just as dreamy as it sounds. 😌

Unpopular take: Sometimes proofs are all you need 👀
 Every on-site Content Capture shoot includes at least 50+ lightly edited image proofs: color-corrected, cropped, and web-optimized. 
✨ These are perfect for social, email, and internal usage; high-quality and ready to go.  They’re just not polished to perfection (unless you want them to be 😉).

Need images for PDPs, ads, or press kits? You can always upgrade your favorites with a full retouching add-on.

Sometimes, light edits are all you need. But other times? That extra polish goes a long way.
