Today is the 60th anniversary of Star Trek premiering on television & I’d like to take this moment to re-introduce myself. My name is Spock, I mean, Michelle Terris and this is “STUFF MY DAD LIKED.” A personal project I started working on this year about my father who passed away 11 years ago from ALS.

This is a self-portrait series where I dress up and photograph myself as characters and figures from my dad’s world — his obsessions, his fandoms, his very specific taste. And his taste was eclectic. Star Trek, Pee-wee Herman, Apple Computers, Mini Coopers, 70’s counter culture comics, I could go on. Follow along as I embody his passions!

Turns out dresseing up as your dead dad’s favorite characters is both a great way to hang out with him, even tho he’s no longer here, and genuinely pretty funny!
