JW.S® × ALT-C — 2021

With so many frames of Evinetta parked in dark parking structures or under sparse street lights, its hard not lean into a little it. Type as a texture to display the key technical stats of the build, and a mild color grade mixed in.

As always, follow and for more wild builds.

This was a super fun collab, and I definitely want to thank them both for letting me in on this project– this is the type of stuff I dream of working on. Going forward, Im going to be posting everything and anything I’m working on. Likely to be mostly photos, but I’m going to keep expanding to more things as I do. Thank you again to everyone for the continued support- I certainly do appreciate it.

The anamorphic aspect ratio is rather unique and hard to ignore... so are the geometry and aesthetically pleasing lines / proportions of the Evinetta. My attempt at pulling them together into a poster looks kinda like this.

Playing off the old english type treatment for the film’s title treatment, I wanted something that juxtaposed it with a more tonal palette. Shifting to a vertical orientation felt like it accentuated Evinetta’s slender form… in spite of how much it expands with all panels open.

Taking cues from typical movie posters, JWSxALT005 is a minimalistic take on what that might look like— while placing the focus entirely on the build. This angle was chosen because it best tells the story of the marriage of the body and powertrain/chassis at the soul of the Evinetta build.

An exercise in abstraction. There’s many shots of Evinetta where it’s barely visible, short of street lights reflecting off it’s slim profile. To accentuate that while taking cues from the film, the aspect ratio of the image is also at a traditional anamorphic aspect ratio of 2.39:1.

With tons of organic camera movements and framing in the film, I felt the subtle techniques emphasize the moment/speed of Evinetta. In an effort to capture that in a poster ± turn it up to 11, JWSxALT003 is my attempt to further accentuate the fast/angular lines of the built.

Inspired by some of the dawn shots in the film, JWSxALT002 uses color and crop to accentuate Evinetta’s form and wild lines. Creating a minimal, Swiss-style poster (with a grotesque font created around the same time as the original Berlinetta’s unveiling) seemed kinda appropriate as well.

Inspired by the technical nature of the build and the industrial setting to many parts of the film, JWSxALT001 is meant to highlight the technical aspects of the build: the Tesla EV powertrain, Porsche RSR bits and the 512-S body. An exercise in minimalism and letting the mechanical beauty created by and shine through.

JW.S® × ALT-C — 2021

I’m excited to start sharing a super fun side-project I’ve been working on the last few weeks with the master saucier of spice, Mr. . Ash was generous enough to let me get my grubby mitts on some stills from his latest build (Evinetta) with the idea of letting me make some posters. Ive long had an appreciation for Ash’s work, and have a penchant for anything automotive… so yea, I rather enjoyed this one.

I’m going to share a poster a day (starting tomorrow), and each day that poster will also be added for sale on a little micro-site I built (a take-over of my site), as well as in ash’s store. If you haven’t seen the film, definitely go to Ash’s page and give it a look. Basically he and a team of wildly talented individuals created a crazy amalgamation of a Ferrari Berlinetta 512-S, with the powertrain of a Tesla and structural bits of a Porsche RSR… and then made a short film on top of that. Just madness.

I know it’s not photo work, but this seems like the right moment to broaden my output to more accurately reflect my interests. Photo isn’t going anywhere either, don’t worry :)
