Pt 2: He asked me about my drawings, asked why I draw them. I tell him how it’s a way to ease my mind, he then tells me about his work, the people he draws, how long he has lived in LA, the friend he was visiting in Portland who is going to Italy to train as a classical painter, making him contemplate if he should do the same.
I tell him about my work, what I had been doing for the past year while I was studying and how I’m now trying to navigate life outside of school, how to be an independent artists in this day and age, where my place is in this world and why my work is werethy of a platform, why the conversations that my work brings forward is important.
Our conversation drifted between intense advise and giddy excitement as we sipped on our diet Pepsi’s in our cups of ice. neitehr of us had anywhere else to be for the next 7 hours on that train ride. All we had was time, so we spent that time together, talking. It was one of those things where there was absolutely nowhere else in the world I could have or wanted to be but right there at that table on the train to LA drinking Diet Pepsi.
