❤️ This past weekend, Lilifor, in partnership with District 8 and the City of Los Angeles, brought families from the community to help us paint the mural. We are all excited because art heals, and as we get closer to the unveiling, we know it will continue to bring people together.
We would like to recognize everyone who made this mural come to life, starting with District 8 City Council Member Marqueece Harris-Dawson and his Senior Field Deputy, Laura Garcia. Thank you for helping to make this all possible. A huge shoutout to the staff at Algin Sutton Park. Denise, Tufana, Stephanie, Pedro, and Warren, you are all amazing.
Also, thank you, Koko Santos! is an LA Artist/Project Manager who administered, organized, and helped paint the mural.
Huge appreciation to LA Artist Sonji , keo , Stash at ICU Art for their support , and Will G Flo for the music and performance

On August 14th, Liliflor began painting the anticipated mural at Algin Sutton Recreation Center. Liliflor's mural is part of the long history of making public spaces accessible to Black and Brown folks. To develop her design, she gathered community input, obtained permits, and secured approval from the city. Honoring the mosaic art by June Edmonds, Lili design elevates our ancestors' history and legacy in South Central Los Angeles. The community mural unveiling will take place on August 30th at 9:30 a.m. at Algin Sutton Park, 8800 S. Hoover St, in front of the pool.

City of Medicine is a linguistic-based documentary project. The project captures 8 of the 24 locations in Los Angeles landscapes through an indigenous narrative. The history of the Tongva people, also known as the Gabrielino-Tongva Tribe, is deeply intertwined with the lands of present-day Southern California, particularly the Los Angeles Basin and surrounding areas.
