I’m back in Brazil after some time away, staying at the house where I grew up. Going through old things, I found my old skateboard. The first thing I did was take my son Dante, who’s now 4 years old, to the skate park where I used to go almost every day, Parque dos Paturis in Carapicuíba, my hometown, where I grew up and lived my entire life before moving to the United States.
I told him stories about a time when skateboarding was everything to me. And even if he’s still too young to fully understand, I want that seed to be planted.
Skate never demanded that I be the best. And I never felt like I needed or should be. What moved me was knowing I could be better than myself each day I tried. The falls, the attempts, the small progress. The connections, the places, and the experiences that skate brought into my life opened doors for me to explore the world and its possibilities.
That mindset shaped who I am today as an artist, as a professional, and as a human being.
Life moves forward, but some values stay with you. Showing up. Staying consistent. Being present.
Grateful to Old Spice for being part of my daily routine and for accompanying me through different places, universes, and dimensions of my reality.
