Locals favorite and one of the most unique restaurants in California! I really loved its romantic, vintage, and cozy old-world vibe 😍

It’s open since 1947! You reach the restaurant by a small funicular that drops down into a redwood canyon. There’s also a walking path. The dining room is multi-level, built into the hillside. It’s known for prime rib, fresh Pacific seafood, and mud pie for dessert. Reservations recommended for the main dining room, but the Rock Room Lounge and patio take walk-ins.

Have you ever seen trees like this? 😮

Deep in a shady redwood grove on California’s Lost Coast, some trees grew in a totally different way. They’re called candelabra trees, and they look just like their name sounds, like a big candle holder made of wood. I was amazed the first time I saw them. Nothing prepares you for how strange and beautiful they are up close.

🚙 You get there on the Peter Douglas Trail, off a bumpy 6-mile dirt road (you’ll want a high-clearance car)
🌳 The first trees show up about a quarter mile in

* These trees are over 500 years old!
* Strong wind and salty ocean air twisted their branches into wild shapes instead of growing straight up

Dreams come true 🥹 I was dreaming of visiting Norway for a long time but couldn’t decide on an itinerary. Then I discovered cruising. This was my first ever cruise last June, and one of the best trips of my entire life. Can you imagine gliding past the endless waterfalls and stunning mountains all the way?! Norwegian Fjords feel like a fairytale.

Unbelievable place 💚

Advanced reservations are required in summer, and one of the options is to book it a day before at 9am. This is what we did and had to click very fast because all 100 were booked in less than 2 minutes 😅 If you come after September 15 you won’t need a reservation anymore though!

📍Fern Canyon in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Humboldt County, California

A creek cut 50 to 80 foot walls here, and they’re covered top to bottom in ferns. Some of the fern species are over 300 million years old!

They filmed two scenes of Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World here.

🥾 About 1 mile, easy, 30 min to 1 hour
💧 Multiple stream crossings, depending on the season and whether you can get wet, but we didn’t. There were a couple creek crossings during the drive to the trail too, but they were shallow.

Hi… Right now, a private developer wants to build luxury homes right outside Yosemite. To make their project easier, they asked the government to give them a quarter-mile strip of land inside Yosemite National Park to build a private shortcut road. In exchange, the developer offered to give the government a different piece of “equal value” land somewhere else. Equal value to Yosemite?! To one of the first National Park in the country?

No, you cannot replace it.

Public lands are protected for all of us to enjoy, not for private companies to use for profit.

If the government trades away a piece of Yosemite today, other developers will try to do the same thing to Yellowstone, Zion, or Grand Canyon tomorrow.

Our national parks are not for trade. Share this information. Help protect Yosemite.

Isn’t it the prettiest time in California? Fall colors here are always so pretty. I make sure to take at least one local fall road trip every year 💛

Fall colors here start as early as end of September. I put the most common dates of peak fall foliage here. It varies from year to year though so check out the updates online close to your trip dates:

* Yosemite - last week of October
* Napa Valley & Sonoma County - 2nd & 3rd weeks of November (later than everywhere else)
* Eastern Sierra - 2nd week of October (also depends on the elevation)
* Lake Tahoe & Hope Valley - 2nd week of October

California’s oldest and coolest zoo 😍 It’s my second time here, and I would come back again and again.

It was founded in 1907 and located inside a 60 acre old-growth redwood forest in Eureka.

📍 Sequoia Park Zoo, Eureka, CA

Here you can find the cutest red pandas, colorful flamingos, bush dogs, Chacoan peccaries, and more.

The Redwood Sky Walk is my favorite part! It’s included with admission, and is the longest sky walk in the western US. It takes you 100 feet above the forest floor across suspended bridges.

There’s also a barnyard with goats, alpacas, and donkeys kids can interact with.
