For the past months, it has been a rough and challenging time as the world is battling against COVID-19 and the on-going critical issues in the world we live in. Influenced by many talented photographers, I have decided to open a space to sell some of my favorite photographs and donating half of the profit till the end of June to and nonprofits organizations. Link is in my bio. (If you have any other suggestions, comment below.)
I think it is an all-important role for creatives to address the current events in the world today. Although there might be an immense pressure in speaking up or expressing our views towards a particular matter or situation, I believe it is our job to speak up and support the fight for social justice and civil rights. If you choose to stay quiet and silent, I totally understand, but it’s time to be educated, learn, and understand the hardships that were inflicted and felt by the Black communities.
As I mentioned, I will also be donating a fraction of the proceedings to nonprofit organizations that serve vulnerable communities as the COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the US. Remember, we are still in a global pandemic.
On the other hand, I think we are all capable of caring about more than one thing at a time. Hong Kong is entering into another phase of protest, and I wholeheartedly support the fight for freedom and democracy. To learn more about Hong Kong’s protest, google “How a Hong Kong protest evolved into an anti-government movement.” This article, written by South China Morning Post, provides clear and minimal infographics describing the timeline of the protests and its significance. On my behave, I will be also making donations to humanitarian aid and crowdfunding for first aid supplies. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Lastly, Happy Juneteenth!
