Apparently I’m the photographer and set designer now. 😂

I had the vision: warm woodgrain, modern furniture, polished beauty, expensive energy.

What I didn’t have was the perfect location, a set designer or much time so we made it work.

This is one of my favorite parts of commercial photography. Taking an idea and figuring out what we actually need to bring it to life and make it feel elevated.

Sometimes that means a full production team. Sometimes it means Amazon contact paper, poster boards and a little delusion. 😂 Either way, I’d say we pulled it off.

If you’re a beauty or fashion brand with a product, concept or even the beginning of an idea….this is exactly the kind of creative problem solving I love.

This really got me thinking. I’m not against AI but there’s a big difference between being inspired by someone’s work, changing it in a meaningful way and straight up copying it. Where do y’all draw the line? Is swapping yourself into someone’s photo really “creating”?

Every creative career starts with an idea that sounds a little insane until you actually make it happen. 😂

Half the time there’s no perfect plan. You just have a vision, figure it out as you go, and somehow turn the thing that only existed in your head into something real.

So yes, everything will work out for me because I’m insane. 😂

One crop can completely change the photo.

Cropping is one of the most underrated parts of beauty photography.

I usually leave myself a little extra room when I shoot so I can play with different crops later, especially when clients need multiple versions from the same image.

One simple adjustment can completely change the composition, pull attention toward the skin, makeup, or product, and give the same photo an entirely different feel.

The best part? Nothing else changed. Same photo, just a different crop.
