Artist's Statement:
I see the world in a connected manner -- people, ideas, energy. And as a photographic collage artist, I am visually stimulated by media, movement, color, nature, history, simple elegant design, and repeating patterns.
And while the world is speeding towards digital, I love the tactile nature of my vintage camera (my trusty, autofocus Nikon N50), using 35mm 800 ISO Kodak and CineStill film, and the output of 5 x 7" photos to create my collage artworks.
Over the years, I have stayed consistent to the tenets of my self-taught process: Identify subject, frame, shoot, collage.
In the collage process, I begin by revisiting my original frame in my mind's eye and then create a unique photographic collage artwork through multiple 'passes' of layering and assembling the images.
My photographic collage artwork is meant to be engaging and fun -- showing how multiple photos can create a larger, integrated story.
