DAILY PRAYER

Lord God, we come before you and ask you to turn our hearts and minds to you alone, to you who have power over the whole world and who can do everything in our hearts according to your will. Let there be light in our time.

Hear and answer the many prayers that have already come to you, rising for centuries before your throne, prayers for your kingdom and for your will on earth.

This earth has become the prey of evil. We are poor and needy, and you alone can help us. Help us, O Lord, our God and Father. After this misery let your day come, your great day over all the world and over all peoples. Amen.

Then another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and he was given a great quantity of incense to offer with the prayers of all God's people upon the golden altar in front of the throne. God Blesses What You Bring Him

“Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days."
Ecclesiastes 11:1 (RSV)

Whatever you give to God, he multiplies.

If you give God your talent, he’ll multiply your talent. If you give God your energy, he’ll multiply your energy. If you give God your money, he will multiply your money. Whatever you give to God, he will multiply and give it back.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 says, “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” (RSV).

To teach this truth, Jesus did a miracle. Five thousand people followed Jesus out into the middle of the desert. He taught them all day, and at the end of the day, they were hungry. The disciples told Jesus to send everyone away. Instead, Jesus told the disciples they needed to feed the people. I’m sure the disciples wondered, “What is he doing?” He was testing their faith. He wanted to see if they would depend on him to provide what they needed to feed 5,000 people.

Out of that huge crowd, one little boy had brought lunch, and inside were five little loaves of bread and two dried fish. The boy brought his lunch to Jesus and said, “Lord, you can have this.”

Jesus took the bread and loaves. He prayed, broke it, blessed it, and multiplied it. It fed all 5,000 people—who were also the 5,000 witnesses to this miracle. Not only that, but there were 12 baskets full of leftover fish and loaves!

God always gives you more than you need, more than you anticipate, and more than you can imagine. He took what the boy gave him. He broke it, he blessed it, and he used it.

That’s what God does in your life. He takes what you bring to him—even the broken parts—and uses it for good.

Offer Jesus what you have today. He’ll bless you and use you to bless others.

Trust God One Day at a Time

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done . . . Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
Philippians 4:6-8 (NLT)

God wants you to trust him one day at a time. He wants you to ask for your “daily bread” (Matthew 6:11 ESV), not for your weekly bread, monthly bread, or yearly bread.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise” (Philippians 4:6-8 NLT).

This passage teaches four things to do daily to trust God:

Worry about nothing. “Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (Matthew 6:34 NLT). Why is worry such a big deal? Because it’s not just a bad habit—it’s a sin. But God keeps his promises, and you can trust that he will take care of you.

Pray about everything. Prayer changes things. Romans 8:32 says, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (NIV) God solved your biggest problem—the sin that kept you from heaven—when he sent Jesus to die for you. If God loved you enough to send Jesus to die for you, don’t you think he loves you enough to take care of all your other problems?

Thank God in all things. No matter what happens, give thanks. The Bible doesn’t say, “For all things, give thanks.” It says, “In all things, give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 GNT). You don’t have to be thankful for bad things in your life. You should never be thankful for evil. You don’t have to be thankful for cancer or a car accident. But God says that in everything you can give thanks. Why? Because you know that God’s going to take care of you. You know he’s going to meet your needs. You know he’s going to help you.

What Does It Mean to Throw Away Your Life?

“Give yourselves to God . . . and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes."
Romans 6:13 (GNT)

God wants you to learn to be a giver, not a taker. He wants you to surrender to Jesus by laying down every area of your life.

Jesus said, “If you insist on saving your life, you will lose it. Only those who throw away their lives for my sake and for the sake of the Good News will ever know what it means to really live” (Mark 8:35 TLB).

Notice the phrase “only those who throw away their lives.” What does it mean to throw away your life? It means you submit yourself to God for his purposes.

Romans 6:13 says, “Give yourselves to God . . . and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes” (GNT). When you give yourself to God and let him use you, life becomes an adventure. That’s when you really start to live!

When you say, “Okay God, I’m not going to live for me anymore. Instead, I’m going to live for you and for other people. I’m going to learn to lay down my life and my plans,” God will provide for all of your needs. The Bible says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33 NLT).

How do you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern? You care about the things God cares about. God doesn’t care about money and fame. He doesn’t care about a lot of the things we care about. He cares most about people.

Surrender your life to God. Build your life around the things that are most important to him. He’ll make sure you have all you need, and you’ll find true purpose in life.
