for those of you new around here, i started this little business of mine back in late 2009 (i guess that makes it about my 10 year biz anniversary, too!) I had no idea how that decision would change my life. 9 years ago (yesterday) i met my husband while photographing a wedding. soon after, he joined SLI and as some of you know, still tags along to most sessions. 📷⠀

5 years ago we officially said “i do” and it was going through that process we decided to rebrand the wedding side of things to become ! 💕⠀

now, in addition to families, we photograph weddings as an official as a husband and wife duo. 👫⠀

don’t wait on that photo.⠀

some of you may know, we lost our little guy, Jack Pug () to cancer this year. we’d been meaning to take photos with him all year, but as it was clear we were nearing the end, i asked our friend to come over and take a few quick photos of the 4 of us.⠀
⠀
we were exhausted. drained physically and mentally. i’d been crying for weeks. we almost pushed the session to Sunday, but something in me insisted we have it Thursday. Jack passed away late Saturday night.⠀
⠀
I’ve never been more thankful for listening to my gut even though we didn’t really feel like it, we didn’t have the perfect outfits, would have rather done a million other things, none of that was important. I’ll treasure these photos forever.⠀
⠀
we’ve taken thousands of photos of Jack over the 8 years he was in our lives and all I find myself wishing is that i’d taken more. I’ve actually never heard anyone say they wish they had less photos of a loved one.⠀
⠀
all this to say, book the session. get in the photo. wear whatever feels right. don’t wait. you never know what life will throw at you.⠀
⠀
even if it’s not booking a session with us, book a session, take the photo. life moves and changes so fast. you don’t want to regret it later.⠀

who’s heard or been guilty of saying “smile for the camera”? 😁⠀

it’s ok! we all have. i even find myself saying it at sessions sometimes, because of course we all want that looking, smiling at the camera photo. 📷⠀

but that being said, sometimes that candid, seriously handsome, just being a kid, glance over the shoulder look makes for the sweetest portrait, too. don’t you agree?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
