Day 11 of Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month ! 💜

You Can Feel Fine and Still Have Cancer
This is something I wish more people understood that:
- You can feel perfectly fine and still have cancer.
- You don’t have to be in pain. You don’t have to feel sick. You don’t have to have obvious symptoms.
That is why regular checkups and paying attention to changes in your body are so important. The changes I experienced... I genuinely thought it was just my body getting older.
My thyroid cancer was found because my doctor noticed something I didn’t even know was there. 💜

I thought I would share a little about me for all my new faces around here!
If you’re new here… HI! 👋
I’m Alexis! And if you’ve been following along for a while, thank you for sticking around and supporting me. Seriously, it means more than you probably realize. ❤️
I thought it was probably time to introduce myself again and let you get to know the girl behind the camera a little better!

Photography is SO much more than a job to me. It’s something I’m genuinely passionate about. I love creating, I love meeting new people, and most of all, I love capturing the little moments, personalities, connections, and memories that you’ll want to hold onto forever.
I’m a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my work, but I also LOVE the candid, imperfect moments. The belly laughs. The goofy faces. The quiet moments. The crazy kids who absolutely refuse to cooperate. 😂 Those are often my favorite images!
When I’m not behind my camera, I’m usually just being me - spending time with the people I love, enjoying the simple things in life, working on my little corner of the world, and probably thinking about photography in some way because apparently I don’t know how to turn that part of my brain off. 😂
I’m an artist at heart. I’m always dreaming up new ideas, new sets, new sessions, and new ways to make your experience with me special. Watching my photography business grow has been such an incredible journey, and I’m so grateful for every single person who has trusted me to capture their memories.

The butterfly is often used as a symbol for thyroid awareness because of the shape of the thyroid gland.
But honestly, I think it’s also a beautiful reminder of transformation.
Life can change so quickly.
Sometimes we are forced into chapters we never wanted to enter. But somehow, we learn, grow, adapt, and keep going.

One thing I’ve learned is that cancer does NOT look the same for everyone.
Some people have surgery. Some need radioactive iodine. Some have multiple surgeries. Some have recurring disease. Some are monitored for years. Some lose their thyroid function. Some struggle with lifelong hormone replacement.
Never compare your journey to someone else’s.
Your experience is valid.
Your fear is valid.
