Had a fantastic time this weekend exploring in Seattle. Having never been to the West Coast, it was nice to explore the city a bit, try some new games, and spend time with friends new and old. Though I must admit after 15 hours of travel home I'm very excited for a quiet night in.

Highlights of the weekend included a bit of emergent LARP in the Red Bull Tavern, sitting down with Mike and Jerry to talk about the latest PAX Unplugged (HOUSTON!) announcement (more of that soon), and playing the same complicated board games multiple times because someone needed help picking it up for the first time (iykyk).

I hope you all enjoyed my silly MtG tokens, talking about immersive and narrative games design, and of course the general whimsy.

Thanks again as always to the amazing PAX/Reedpop team that bring this show together and have me along as a content creator. I look forward to seeing some of you once again at PAX Unplugged this December.

Would I don this full dwarf suit in 90 degree heat agin? Unlikely. But you never know for certain.

I have been loving getting to play with costuming on different projects this year (And connecting with so many lovely people across the country in doing so).

No one ever wants to hear the news that someone has passed. This week the world lost two big names in film and music and my heart goes out to anyone who's lives they've touched.

Eight years of my life revolved around bringing the work of Tim Curry to life on stage, from my first college production, first lead role in a show, and first time directing not just one cast but the entire 25 years of Alumni who had brought our company together before me. The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the experience I had studying Tim's portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter brought me to co-founding my own theater company, joining a traveling cast, getting into drag, and ultimately landing on the name I use today all over the internet. Without that show not only would I not be who I am today, but the lives of so many people I love would be totally different.

I am forever in awe at the breadth of talent that both Dolly Parton and Tim Curry possessed, and what they chose to do with it. To be so in the public eye and embody their values openly is something I seriously respect. Every time I hear a story about Dolly sending support to those fighting for change, choosing to give away her wealth in favor of global literacy, I'm reminded that people can be good.

There are so many wonderful amazing performers and kind souls out there who were inspired by both Tim Curry and Dolly Parton. The world is better because they were in it. What a loss.

Joining this project for me was to some a surprise, considering to this day I still have not seen (or read) all of The Lord of the Rings. High fantasy was just never what drew me in, as I prefer to lurk in the shadows of urban spaces when there's magic involved. That said, I am very glad I've been pushing myself out of that comfort zone.

This weekend was a whirlwind and a joy to experience from reconnecting with folks who were at my first ever retreat experience two years ago, to finding new friends who literally live two towns over, I would not trade it in for anything. I'm excited to show you all the final products when we have them. For now, I'll be trying to remove Gimli's bears hair from just about everything that I own.
