***Re-post
Good morning everyone!
My beautiful wife and I just got back from a great short trip up north looking for moose (plus warblers, waterfalls, loons, etc). This was our third trip and the amount we learned about these amazing gentle giants was beyond what we expected. Learning about their spring habits and locations, we examined wallows and other likely spots, formulated plans, changed plans, adapted, and were richly rewarded!
God blessed us with seeing 14 of these amazing animals! The last morning before we left, we chose this particular wallow near the road. Very heavily used, fresh tracks and dung, and the evening before we got a huge cow there. Upon arriving we noticed a giant head with the beginnings of antlers and waited.
Over an hour later he emerged! Over 1,000lbs of grace and beauty! In the process of growing his summer coat and giant rack he'll use for breeding in fall, he gave us several beautiful minutes with him before disappearing somehow quietly into the forest!
I chose this image as it illustrates the moment and battle between man and wildlife... plus the foggy morning atmosphere. Only vehicle that came by during our time with this giant, he was towing a boat for early morning fishing. 55+mph. Thankfully he was alert and slowed down to avoid collision, but this is a stark reminder to slow down and be aware!

Good and blessed morning everyone!
Sometimes, you need to climb to the top of a tall tree, smell the flowers, and just relax.
Just take in God's beautiful creation!
Maybe that's what this young black bear is doing?
Have a blessed and wonderful day everyone!

Good and blessed morning everyone!!!
Took a short trip (*just outside New England) out for warblers during peak time the other day. It was pure awesomeness!!
I could only put 10 pics on this post, but have a huge amount of memories!
Included in this trip are 2 lifer warblers, bringing me up to 40 different warbler species! I also added Acadian Flycatcher.
Only need 1 more species of warbler to have all the Eastern USA species; Brewster's...
Managed many of the heavyweight warblers on this trip, including:
Swainson's (lifer), Kentucky (lifer), Blackburnian, Mourning, Golden-winged, Cerulean, Hooded, Louisiana Waterthrush, Canada, Blue-winged, Prairie, Blackpoll, Northern Parula, etc etc etc.
Managed other stunning birds as well... plus a bonus black bear 100' up a tree!
So many memories in just a couple days in God's wonderful creation!!
Have a blessed day everyone!

Good morning everyone!!!
Just catching up on the beginning of Warbler Season, 2026.
It's my favorite time of the year and these birds captivate me. They're beautiful, but tough to get pics of... maybe that's the appeal?
After last year going all in on them, I managed 9 new species of warblers. It gets tougher to add to the "lifer list", but this year I have 3 main goal species to add.
The first pic is my first lifer this season, and one of the 3 main goal species; the Worm-eating Warbler! This is Warbler species #38 for me! I believe there's 55 species of them in N America! Very tough warbler to get in these parts!
The others are great birds too... Northern Parula, Blue-winged Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, and the Ovenbird!
Here's to many more this season!
Have a blessed Warbler Wednesday everyone!

Good morning everyone!
While not super uncommon this time of year, the majestic Great Egret do make great subjects!
This time of year sees a few of them fully adorned in their mating plumage and colors too!
Have a blessed day everyone!

Good afternoon my friends!!
Well, the owl babies are starting to fledge, and this means falls from trees, running around on the ground with mom and dad watching anxiously, and climbing back up trees...
It's all part of growing up...
Great-horned Owl

Good morning everyone!
Just a quick hello!
Thought I missed Waterfall Wednesday, here's a "day late" pic of my local Trap Falls. It's a place I first tried long exposure for waterfalls.
Still very pretty!

Good (very early) morning everyone!
In honor of the Artemis II's voyage, here's a quick pic from yesterday morning's 57% waning moon.
It was blue hour so much of the warm hues were tough to recover, and I needed to slow the shutter down a bit as there was some haze, but pleased overall with it.
God's Creation is amazing!
