Good morning everyone!
My beautiful wife and I just got back from a great short trip up north looking for moose (plus warblers, waterfalls, loons, etc). This was our third trip and the amount we learned about these amazing gentle giants was beyond what we expected. Learning about their spring habits and locations, we examined wallows and other likely spots, formulated plans, changed plans, adapted, and were richly rewarded!
God blessed us with seeing 14 of these amazing animals! The last morning before we left, we chose this particular wallow near the road. Very heavily used, fresh tracks and dung, and the evening before we got a huge cow there. Upon arriving we noticed a giant head with the beginnings of antlers and waited.
Over an hour later he emerged! Over 1,000lbs of grace and beauty! In the process of growing his summer coat and giant rack he'll use for breeding in fall, he gave us several beautiful minutes with him before disappearing somehow quietly into the forest!
I chose this image as it illustrates the moment and battle between man and wildlife... plus the foggy morning atmosphere. Only vehicle that came by during our time with this giant, he was towing a boat for early morning fishing. 55+mph. Thankfully he was alert and slowed down to avoid collision, but this is a stark reminder to slow down and be aware!

Have a blessed day everyone!
