That warm, soft light rolling in right before sunset does more work than any editing ever could, it just makes everyone look like the best version of themselves. What's already in your closet probably works better than you think for these sessions. I steer maternity, family, and engagement clients toward soft texture and color, chambray, linen, soft knits, over busy patterns or big logos, and one layering piece like an unbuttoned shirt or light cardigan gives your hands something to do so the pose feels natural instead of stiff. Since I edit true to color, whatever shade you pick is exactly what shows up in the photo, so choose what you love, not what's trending this year. "Say cheese" rarely works.

The second someone tells you to smile, you stop being yourself. This moment between this sweet family because I gave them nothing to perform, just each other to lean into.

The tip I give every family I photograph: instead of posing for me, do something together (whisper, hold hands, laugh about something silly) and let me catch what happens next.

The sweetest couple and the sweetest day.

Being so freshly postpartum, I knew I couldn’t be there all day so I had my friend Candace step in but I was able to surprise them by being there a couple of hours to help with the pre-ceremony pictures. I’m so glad I was able to be there because it was such a special day. Seeing Marcella become a bride was magical. She looked so beautiful and had the best bridal party by her side. What a beautiful day to be a part of.
