Ya’ll one thing about me… I will absolutely stop for a sunflower. 🌻 Even in a parking lot with I35 in the background! 😂
I took one photo, then stepped a little closer and looked up.
Same flowers. Same moment. Just a different perspective.
Don’t be afraid to look up and crop a photo!
Beauty is everywhere.
Stay curious enough to look for it!

Happy 4th of July from Anchor V Photography! 🇺🇸📸
As we celebrate 250 years of the USA, don’t forget to capture the little moments -the laughter, the fireworks, the family, and the flags. These are the memories we will hold onto for years to come.
Stay curious. Capture the moments. Preserve the memories.

UPDATE: Gracie the giraffe has been spotted in Denton!
After running away from the Texas Hill Country, it appears Gracie has wandered into my backyard... sampled a few plants... and somehow borrowed my camera. 📸🦒🌿
She has a much better view that me and I told her if she's going to keep showing up in Denton, she might as well join the team at Anchor V Photography.
If you happen to see a giraffe wearing a camera, don't panic. She's probably just looking for the best light... or another snack. 😂

When we planned our trip to Taos, New Mexico in 2024 there was one photo stop I knew we had to make.
The Taos “Welcome Tree”.
We pulled over on the side of the road, and I stood there taking in the view, the clouds, the mountains, and the quiet beauty of the landscape. It was one of those moments when you know you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
I just learned this beautiful special tree fell yesterday during a wind storm.
That makes these photographs even more precious to me. I thought I would take another trip and get more photos - this is a reminder to take the trip.
Pull over. Take the photo.

I thought I had found a puffball mushroom in our front yard but when I looked closer and broke it open, the inside revealed a dark, powdery spore mass-likely an earthball fungus rather than a true puffball.
I often tell people- look up - look down when you are in nature. So many great moments are hidden in plan site.❤️
It’s a good reminder that whether we’re photographing wildlife, landscapes, fungi, or people, taking the time to look a little closer often changes what we see.

One of my favorite things about photography and nature is how dramatically things can change depending on where you stand, what you include… and what you choose to leave out.
These fascinating fungi (likely Wood Ear fungus) were growing quietly on a fallen log Denton Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center.
By changing my angle, distance, and crop, the same tiny woodland scene transformed from an environmental nature shot… to an intimate close-up… to a more abstract, glowing study of texture, shape, and light.

Photography isn’t always about finding something extraordinary. Sometimes it’s about slowing down, looking closer, and discovering how perspective changes everything!
