Jacob Astrophotography

Jacob Astrophotography Welcome! I’m a deep-sky and planetary astrophotographer. Thanks for following my journey into the deep sky! 🔭

While others look at the big picture, I like to zoom in on distant galaxies and the rugged surface of the moon.

The moon is never truly still. 🔭
Over the course of 4 days, two amazing things happen here:
Libration: Notice the slight "rocking" motion? That’s libration, allowing us to see just a bit more than 50% of the lunar surface over time.
The Terminator: Watch as the line between night and day crawls across Clavius, one of the moon's largest and oldest crater formations.
I’ve included a high-resolution zoom to show the rugged detail of the crater floor, finished off with a Mineral Moon edit to highlight the titanium and iron deposits on the surface.
Which phase is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! 👇
