I officially have a website up! 🤩🎉
www.megapixeldrones.com

At the beginning of the year I dove SO heavily into this new hobby and immediately started accumulating SO MANY photos at such a rapid pace! This quickly led to a slight sense of overwhelm because - where would they all go other than on Facebook?!

That being said, I went MIA for a bit so I could focus on getting my website built...then one thing led to another and I ended up redoing my other business sites as well (why stop when you're on a roll, right?) 😅

Anyways - the site is live and I'd love for you to check it out! I even figured out how to embed the 360° interactive photos which felt like such a huge feat! I've got several more galleries to upload from my recent sessions but those will be added over the coming weeks - and then new collections will be added regularly as I go (so I can avoid getting overwhelmed again, haha)

In the near-ish future this will be my hub for services and prints as well! As invested as I've been in website design the last few weeks, that's left very little time to study for my Part 107 exam - but now that I can check this big piece off my list...that's my next challenge to conquer!

For now - YAY for a place to house my full galleries at a higher resolution! 🤩 And *happy dance* for being able to get back to actually flying! 😁

I had an excuse to go to Roanoke the other day, so of course I took my drone and made a day out of it! I love this shot because for me, it really captures the tranquility those hills bring me. This was taken from a tiny trail I found on (definitely the best for finding marked locations) - and I had the entire hilltop to myself which made it an extra serene flying session to say the least 🤩

I’m also eager to share the first shot of lightning I captured from my drone, so here it is! 🤩

As a kid I always told “not to stand by the windows” when it was storming, but I’d always try to find a way to peek out of the curtains - and for a decent period of my childhood I was determined to become a storm chaser 🙈🤣 then fast forward to when digital cameras came out…I’d stand on the porch snapping and deleting shots until I finally caught a faint, blurry sliver of lightning bc it’s just so fascinating. One of the first things I told my mom when I got my drone was “now I’ll be able to catch pictures of storms from above” and of course she gave me a *face palm* look 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Nevertheless - nature, the earth, the sky, and everything around us really is awe-inspiring if you take some time every once in a while to marvel in the mundane 🤩

Lightning is airborne electricity…that just happens. That’s fascinating. The end. 🤣

I took a bittersweet trip down to San Antonio last week - got to visit a college friend for the first time since he moved to TX, but also mourned the loss of another friend who I never got to see “in his Texas element.”

There was one night during my visit where the sky appeared so vast that it literally brought tears to my eyes - idk if that was just me being emotional, or if the sky really is “bigger” in Texas, but it was absolutely mesmerizing for this sky lover!

Anyways, of course I took my drone - so here’s a sunset pano from my last night! This one’s for you, Tyler!

I wouldn’t consider this my “best” 360 shot of the Aurora over Lynchburg, but this one felt special and worth sharing first because it captured a neat trifecta - the Aurora glow, a glimpse of sunrise, AND a super faint imprint of the Milky Way galaxy seam. I was exhausted at this point but absolutely could not stop until it was “over” - but this was one of my last shots before the sunlight washed out the glow! 🥲

This was shot from Boonsboro, with my mini-drone. I’ll make sure to post the others at some point too, so if you like this one, lookout for those! 🤩

I’m not one to pass up a rare opportunity like this, so I made sure I was ready for a “night 2” if there was going to be one…while patiently waiting we got teased with a small burst of red, but it faded away pretty quickly and I went back to patiently waiting. Then I decided to experiment with my GoPro and MAN OH MAN AM I GLAD I DID! It happened to capture probably one of the only other bursts we got down here (I know bc I shot until ~4:30am) and it was on such a fun setting! Enjoy, since I know we were all hopeful for a second showing!! 🤩🌌

Star-trail stills and timelapse “videos” (they’re super short lol), plus my random iPhone shot that tipped me off to send my drone up. I may or may not have a few shots from those attempts…but those will have to wait until I can look at them!

I’m just so in awe of what I experienced last night - while it was much more faint to the eyes, you could still see a “glow” and I can’t even describe how fun each shot was to get because they were truly experiments each time…and I surely did not prepare for them to be such a spectacle from here 🌌 I’ll post a final collection once I enchance and refine them…but I just could not wait to share what I saw last night/this morning 🤩

*open for full images bc these are ALL PANORAMAS* 🤩🤩

A little different of a view of the visible aurora last night, from Boonsboro…it kept showing off literally until the sun rose this morning, which was when the light finally got diffused out. But WHAT A FUN NIGHT of watching it transform, and such an exciting first for so many of us 🤩🌌
