Deception Pass Sunset - Almost Equinox
It took a couple days to stage this shot. The first day was spent locating the viewing point and the second day was the actual photo shoot. Luckily the conditions were excellent. I knew that the sun sets in the middle of the bridge on the equinox but since it was only twelve days before the equinox, I thought it would not make that much difference. The sun set over the far north end of the bridge dipping between layers of clouds only to be seen briefly between layers. Finally, after it set below the horizon, a bright pink glow reflected off the middle layer of clouds below the bridge. Each layer of clouds took on a different color - orange, yellow and purple. But the pink layer was spectacular.
I would like to thank my friend who helped me locate the spot and patiently waited after the sun was below the horizon, when I said, "Just 10 more minutes before the colors peak".
