From Barbara Coleman: My 97 year old mom is now living with us. Being born and raised here in Fredericktown, she has always been my source of family and local history. Recently, we have been discussing her grandparents - George and Matilda Ray - who had a farm around Twelve Mile which was bought out due to Hwy 67 going through that area. The farm was past Gregory’s store. She also recently called the area “Jericho City” when talking about it and said that’s what she remembered it being called. I am not familiar with that area’s history but have never heard it called anything but Twelve Mile. She is in the early to mid stages of dementia and gets many stories mixed together but is also beginning to “relive” that time again. Has anyone heard this area being called that before?

I received this cool photo from Jess Gaines. She noted that she was related to several Denmans and that this general store is now the Hideaway Cafe.

The road that is Madison County 411 begins across Highway 67 from what used to be Gregory's Service Station. It is a meandering gravel road the goes up and down hills, around curves and across creeks. Three miles down its winding path the road ends, at the cemetery where my parents and all four of my grandparents are buried.
