I had a call with a prospective bride the other day and she asked me how I’d describe my photography style. I told her half guided, half candid. I’ll set you up, but I want to see you unravel in those moments.

Then this morning, while looking through photos to post, I realized just how many of my favorites are the ones that happen somewhere in between. Of course everyone wants the Christmas card photo, (aka the fridge photo). Everyone standing there like good little humans, smiling back at the camera.

But man, give me a photo with some whimsy. Give me the photo you probably didn’t even know I was still holding my camera up for. Tripping through the grass over your dress. Throwing a baby up on your hip while you’re walking away. Dragging your toddler along because they’ve got an adventure up their sleeve of their own.

I’ll always get you the fridge photo. But the in between? That’s usually where my favorites live.

So to my clients who show up as unapologetically themselves, thank you for trusting me enough to let me watch it all unfold. And thank you for helping me make art.

My last 7 posts have had horrible engagement, which tells me one thing… It’s time for mother to feed you.

I’ve been depriving the socials because I’ve been busy delivering some BEAUTIFUL galleries, but apparently the algorithm has decided to put me in time out for my absence. Here’s my little commitment to start posting more of the good stuff again.
