You may have seen this in my stories already, but I now have a permanent headshot studio set up at Nichols Voice Studio on the west side. I’m thrilled to collaborate with the team at @ and offer this service that many singers and performers need! Being able to leave all my backdrops and equipment set up in one spot allows me to provide high quality headshots at an affordable price! But you do not need to be a student at Nichols Voice Studio to come and get your headshot done, these are open to EVERYONE! I do headshots for all ages, but I specialize in in working with kids. I know how to put kids and teens at ease in front of the camera and capture their authentic personality. And that’s really what a headshot is all about. If you are interested in headshots for your child, chances are your kiddo is pretty ambitious and looking to do big things. But at the end of the day they are still a kid and so their headshot should reflect that. This is especially important if you are using headshots during the audition process. A headshot should match your child’s age and maturity level so they’ll get called in for the roles that they can actually play. I know how to make your kid look like the best version of themselves.

Bonus use for headshots, have your child sign them and send them to grandparents as a gift! There is nothing your child’s fan club loves more. That is worth the cost of headshot session alone. I always have this vision of summer being this relaxing period of time, but never is. Don't get me wrong, it's lots of fun but between all the camps where kids need different things for each week, vacations, visitors from out of town, and strange work hours- you gotta bring your A game to keep everything organized and running smoothly. I love a good collaboration with other business owners because it gives me the opportunity to shine a light on the fabulous people in our community. And today I’m talking about the amazing Abby Nichols and . If you are a theater person in the Madison area chances are you’ve heard of Abby before. Not only is she an incredible performer herself, but she is a fantastic voice teacher and she just moved her growing voice studio into a beautiful new space. Abby has students of all ages and she caters each lesson to the individual’s needs, creating a safe space for them to take risks and build confidence. All of her students talk about how much they’ve grown as a singer since working with Abby, both in technique and confidence. Plus, she is just a ton of fun to work with and has an amazing laugh. Everyone looks forward to their lessons with Abby.

In the performing world there are highs and lows, struggles and triumphs and Abby is there for her students throughout it all, to encourage, support, and comfort her students. She is an amazing teacher and mentor for any performer and I’m so excited to see all the incredible things her students go on to do.

World Cup! You don't even have to be a soccer fan to feel the excitement around this international event. Watching Mexico play last night I was reminded of a photography workshop I did in Tepoztlán, Mexico seven years ago. My favorite night of the workshop I photographed a group of kids playing soccer in a gorgeous field surrounded by mountains. Even in that remote location, you could feel the rush of excitement as these kids played a soccer game. I like to imagine all the various places these World Cup athletes first played soccer. And I love that the World Cup is bringing athletes and fans from around the world together. That's what we need right now.

It is really amazing what and her balloon friends , , and can create out of balloons! I can't even imagine the time and planning that goes into preparing each individual balloon costume, and when they were all together it really was a masterpiece. You guys blew the crowd away and you could feel the excitement as you passed by.

Maybe the Summer Mini Session dates don’t work for your family, but did you know you can build your own mini session? Just book with a friend and you and your friend pick the date and location. We’ll schedule your sessions 20-minutes apart and both families get the mini session rate. You can even go to lunch together or have a playdate after your photos. Everyone wins! To build your own mini session have one person make the booking using the link below. You'll be asked for the name and contact information for the second family during the booking process.
