September has always felt like its own kind of beginning to me.

The year is winding down but it does not feel like an ending. It feels like a last long exhale before everything shifts - the light changes, the air changes, and suddenly you are aware that summer is really gone.

The sunflower fields at Hubert Family Farms land right in the middle of that feeling for me. A few weeks where everything is bright and unhurried and worth slowing down for.

Photographing families there every year is not just a session type on a booking calendar. It is the part of my work that reminds me why I started doing this in the first place.

If you have never had professional photos taken before, I want you to know something.

You do not need to have it all figured out before you book. You do not need a perfectly coordinated family outfit Pinterest board (though I can help with that). You do not need kids who are naturally photogenic and cooperative.

What you need is 15 to 20 minutes, a willingness to show up, and a field full of sunflowers to make everything else feel easy.

The sessions at Hubert Family Farms are designed to be low-pressure from start to finish. No long timelines, no complicated setups, just you and your people in a setting that does the heavy lifting for us.
