“But are we still gonna eat hot dogs?!”

One never quite knows how they’ll respond in a high adrenaline situation until they’re in it. When Ben dropped to one knee, Emma could hardly catch her breath in the excitement. And when she finally did, she REALLY wanted to make sure they were still going to be roasting hot dogs over the fire together later. 

And they did (though Ben dropped one so they were left to split three hot dogs between the two of them).

Ben had reached out with a plan to surprise Emma with a couples photo session on their mini vacation to a cabin in the lush woods of Wisconsin. Emma was in on the planning…but not ALL of it. We worked behind the scenes with Ben to orchestrate how, when, and where he’d knock Emma socks off with a surprise proposal.

Somewhere between swinging upside down on tree branches, the out-of-breath laughs, and the “wait, one more photos up here” moments, Becca and Colin got engagement photos at Devil’s Lake state Park that didn’t feel like a photo shoot.

Their engagement session feels like like dusty sun rays, skipping over tree roots in white sneakers, and two humans who’d rather laugh their way up a trail while we collectively flap our sweat marks out to dry in the wind, than take life too seriously.

It felt like the adventure that only comes comes from spending a ridiculously hot summer evening hiking through some of the most epic views in Wisconsin, stopping every few minutes because one of us spotted a view, cracked a joke, or needed a water break ;)

Taco buffets + dancing on a rooftop over the Milwaukee skyline - this is summertime with Katie, Martin, and their crew. 

Years of goodbyes, joys of reuniting and eating Kimchi together, lengthy green card processes, and finally, harmony. No more airport goodbyes.

Katie and Martin have a rare ability to accept with joy whatever comes their way in life. They are so excited to take road trips together now that they can live in the same country! And most of all, they’re excited to go rock climbing so they can look at each other’s butts ;)

Baby shocked everyone when she decided to make her way into the world just hours later.

But before she did, Emmylou, Jerrett, and the pups enjoyed a humid sunset frolic in a park where they’ve made so many memories together as a family.

Golden clouds, swaying grasses, bunnies scampering. It was a quintessential Wisconsin evening. All tied together by the sound of Olive 🐶 eating grass like a cow 🤣.

Dusk came and we made our way back to their home, shared a meal together, and got a nursery tour. A few hours later Emmy was off to the hospital and less than 20 hours after this session together, Georgie made her surprise grand entrance!

Vibes: Summer in Door County as Newlyweds - Day two of Courtney & Dan’s elopement included “just married” ice cream at Wilson’s + recreating Mooses’ iconic Step Up 2 water performance in a puddle at sunset on Ephraims’ historic Anderson Dock ;)

We strolled between fishermen casting lures. By a stroke of luck there were extra paint and brushes left behind by previous painters. The newlyweds didn’t hesitate. Grabbing their choice color they added their own names on to the side of the dock building; the fresh letters glistened brightly between the setting sun rays and long, stretched shadows. It’s a 100 year old tradition that first began with sailors painting the names of their vessels onto the boards of the building, noting that they had made safe passage through the turbulent waters.

A two day elopement with Courtney and Dan in Door County, Wisconsin. Two days that will be etched in our hearts (and painted on the side of Anderson Dock) for a very very long time.

Eloping in the rain in Door County + hiking with wine glasses 🍷 🌧️

If you would’ve told us this was the West Coast, we’d believe you.
Whitecaps crashed against the cliffs, the wind had a mind of its own, a flock of pelicans flapped hello, and for a few hours, the rest of the world disappeared.
It was just the four of us... plus two very important guests with four paws. 🐾
No audience.
No pressure.
No timeline built around anyone else’s expectations.

Just two people who wanted to promise forever in a place that felt wild, peaceful, and completely them.
That’s the thing we love most Courtney and Dan’s elopement. It wasn’t about stripping a wedding down, rather it was about building it back up around what actually matters, and prioritizing the freedom to slow down enough to actually remember how it all felt.

They dreamed of dramatic West Coast cliffside views, so we knew right where to take them in Door County. DC showed off in the best way for Courtney and Dan- dark clouds rolled in and rain began to patter. They had the coastal stretch almost entirely to themselves.

They poured wine as part of their ceremony. Bryan officiated. And they hiked (wine glasses in hand). We ended at their cabin Airbnb watching the campfire crackle and lighting strike across the water. 

And just wait to see what we did together for their day-after session!

Courtney and Dan. Margo and Archie. Let’s plan an anniversary just as epic ;) Thank you for the most cup-filling adventure on a stormy day in Door County.

A double rainbow kind of Friday (🌈🌈 literally)

The skies swirled and sprinkled; the water waved hello. Cory & Sierra held hands, splashing in the same spot where we took their engagement session years ago. This time there are three :)

Feet soaked, they turned to look across the water, and not one, but ✌️rainbows glimmered.

Sitting on the couch and playing with each others hair + getting dirty outside in their perfectly harmonious and goofy way. That’s their couples personality.

They met on winter break while building a snow fort at a church parking lot. They hung out every week for the remainder of Martin’s foreign exchange student stay. 

Katie spent a summer in Sweden back in 2017 and Martin said that we should get married while riding a bus on our way to the city of Norrköping, and Katie learnt in 2023 that that was in fact a proposal. “We truly decided to get married in November 2023 when we had lived together in Sweden since 2018. We decided it was time to move to the US which meant we needed to get married. A month later, we had a small wedding at the city town hall in Norrköping with our closest family.”

Celebrating Martin and the pups coming from Sweden and that next month Katie & Martin tie the knot in Milwaukee!!!
