Don't let this post fool you. We got plenty of these sweet girls' faces but sometimes I like to browse through the faceless photos and have those tell me the story.

Every family has a different story.

Some kids jump into my arms like I'm their Aunt Sam they've missed so much. Other kids need a little time to warm up, and sometimes... they just never do. Either way is 100% okay, and we go with the flow no matter what.

The sweet little guy in this wonderful family wasn't quite sure about me, but we still ended up capturing beautiful photos they'll treasure for years to come.

If you haven't booked a session because your kiddo is shy or nervous around strangers, DO NOT let that keep you away. A Golden Hour session gives us plenty of time to play games, get to know each other, and even take a juice break when needed.

Every session at the property starts with a golf cart ride like this.

The destination matters, but it's never the most important part.
When you book a session with me, you're not signing up for an hour of smiling at the camera. You're giving your family permission to slow down, play, laugh, chase the sunset, explore a new place, and simply be together.

I always tell my families to think of it as a family date that just happens to have a photographer tagging along.

Confession: I've probably driven past every single open field and tree line in central Illinois at golden hour just to see how the light hits. I've got notes in my phone of locations organized by season and time of day. I think about light more than I think about most things honestly.

Things I never expected when I started this business: how emotional it would feel to delivery a gallery.

Every single time.

It doesn't matter how many sessions I've done. When I hit send on a gallery and start imagining the moment that mama opens it for the first time, I still get this feeling in my chest that's just so full and so good. I hope I never stop feeling that.

Babies… all the babies.

There is something so sacred about those first few weeks. The way they fit perfectly in your arms. The sleepy stretches. The tiny fingers wrapped around yours. The little noises they'll stop making before you even realize they're gone.

I'm long past the baby stage with my own children, and maybe that's why I cherish these sessions so much. Every newborn I get to photograph is a reminder of just how quickly this season passes. It's an honor to slow time down, even for a little while, and preserve these moments for families forever.

This sweet little guy had plans of his own and wasn't too interested in sleeping during his session. And honestly? That's part of the beauty of newborn photography. I always come prepared with plenty of tricks to help babies settle into a deep sleep, but every little one writes their own story. When they stay awake, we simply embrace it. Those bright eyes, curious expressions, and tiny moments of connection become some of my favorite images because they're every bit as beautiful as the sleepy poses.

If you're expecting a little one, let's plan your newborn photo session before your baby arrives. Newborns are best photographed within the first two weeks after birth, and having everything scheduled ahead of time means one less thing to think about once you're home soaking in those precious first days.

One day, your baby won't fit in the crook of your arm anymore. These photographs become the way you remember exactly what it felt like.
