Ok but can we talk about this for a second? 👀

You didn’t lose that inquiry because your work wasn’t good enough. You lost them somewhere in the reply.

I see it constantly — talented photographers with gorgeous portfolios wondering why couples go quiet after that first “thanks for reaching out!” message. And it’s almost never the photos. It’s what happens in the next 24 hours after they hit send.

Swipe through and be honest with yourself on these 👉 which one hits closest to home?
I used to lose bookings this exact way — good inquiries, gone with zero explanation. It wasn’t until I rebuilt my reply process that things clicked (and bookings actually started following).

If you’re ready to stop guessing why inquiries ghost and start replying in a way that actually gets couples to book — even if they’re talking to 5 other photographers — comment “READY” and I’ll send you the link to Booked From the First Reply. It’s the exact framework I use (and teach) to turn inquiries into bookings.

This was Mik’s last day on the North Shore before moving away to college, which also happened to be her birthday. I cant help@to think about how blessed Mik is to have grown up here, where birthdays can involve swimming with the local tiger sharks. The North Shore has given her a childhood full of wild, beautiful moments most people only dream of — and it will always be home, no matter how far she goes from here. Mahalo Ocean Outfitters Hawaii for the incredible adventure.

We were there to capture a sweet moment between a grandmother and granddaughter. But it became something else entirely.

She started talking about her daughter — the one who didn’t come back — and the grief just overwhelmed her, right there in the doorway.

Girl by girl, year by year, trafficking has quietly hollowed out this community. Three generations sat in front of my lens. One was missing entirely.

The young woman on the left beat the odds. With the support of Compassion and her local church..she found a place to belong — a place to be seen, heard, and known. The old pattern is slowly changing, but not fast enough.

Sadly, girls like her are rare here. They get promised something better, and they never return.

My heart broke sitting with that reality. Not in an abstract, far-away way — but right there, in that doorway, watching a grandmother weep over a daughter whose life was stolen…thinking of all the girls, just in this one small community, who will never make it home.

This is the part of humanitarian photography nobody prepares you for. The connections are real. The grief you witness is real. You form bonds with people in the span of an afternoon and leave carrying stories that were never yours to begin with. And the hardest part — the part that stays with you long after you’re home — is knowing you can’t help everyone. But I believe I was called to this. To use the skills God gave me, to bear witness, to tell the stories that the world might otherwise look away from. The hope I have in Jesus is what keeps me going and what holds me together in the doorways and in the grief and in the weight of it all.

Grateful for the privilege of being her mom. Grateful for every season that has beautifully shaped her. Grateful for this incredible community that has walked alongside her. Grateful for a God who had her in His hands long before she was in mine. Mik, your story is just beginning — and I can’t wait to see every page God writes. 🤍
