Earlier this month I spent 6 days hiking a circuit through Picos de Europa National Park in Northern Spain. From the breathtaking highlands to the spectacular gorges, the park blew me away with its grandeur, scenic beauty, and sheer variety of landscapes. Here are eight images that capture a tiny fraction of my incredible experience over those 6 days.

Last month I had the good fortune of hiking the Fiordland section of the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks (at least as much as was possible up to the avalanche closure). It was a magical experience full of mystical forests, ever-changing weather, and views straight out of a fantasy novel. Here are some photos from my first day on the trail.

Photos from a magical 24 hours in Kings Canyon National Park here in California earlier this year. After waking up to a beautiful calm morning, I spent the entire day hiking in the clouds and the rain, heading to a place I'd never been before. The rain followed me, and I spent all night huddled in my tent. The next morning I awoke to thick gray clouds swirling in every direction. After a few hours, just as I was poised to pack up and leave, the skies broke open and the world became a fantasy.
