She thought they were just exploring Dumbo Brooklyn… but he had a completely different plan.

Ryan planned the ultimate surprise for Farah, bringing her to Brooklyn for what she thought was just another date together… until he got down on one knee. After a decade of love, the answer was an easy YES. 🤍

From the waterfront views at Brooklyn Bridge Park to DUMBO, Jane’s Carousel, and the Brooklyn waterfront, we turned their proposal into an entire engagement story. Capturing the shock, excitement, and all the moments that followed. 🥂

The best part? She truly didn’t see it coming. 🥹

We had a vision for this branding session… and NYC weather had other plans 😂⛈️

We started in Jackson Square, wandering through the West Village and capturing the cutest outdoor lifestyle shots. About 10 minutes in, the sky completely opened up with pouring rain, crazy wind, thunder… the whole thing.

So we pivoted✨

We ran into nearby PlantShed , grabbed a cozy café corner, and kept shooting. alice in motion | pilates yoga barre was an absolute trooper, and what could’ve completely derailed the session ended up giving us a whole second vibe for her gallery.

We also happened to book our shoot on the literal hottest day of the summer, and somehow you’d never know from the photos! I was especially blown away by the editing. You spent months choosing the details of your wedding day, so make sure they actually make it into your wedding gallery.

One of my biggest tips for couples: build a little breathing room into your photography timeline for reception details.

Ideally, I love having a few minutes to photograph the reception space before guests enter. That’s when I can capture the room exactly as you envisioned it: untouched tablescapes, florals, candles, place settings, signage, cake, and all of the little details you spent so much time choosing.

Once guests enter, chairs move, drinks hit the tables and the room changes fast.

These photographs might not feel as important as your portraits when you’re planning the wedding, but they become such an important part of telling the full story of the day, especially after the flowers are gone and the reception has been packed away.

Wedding planning tip: Ask your photographer and planner to coordinate a short reception-room reveal/detail window before guests are invited in. Even 10–15 uninterrupted minutes can make a difference.
