Big tshanúnyaht to the Oneida Nation graduates from Green Bay Southwest Class of 2026. Proud moment for the community and all the hard work that got you here.

yaw^koto the Stevens family for allowing me to capture these moments. It means a lot to be trusted with something this important.

Special recognition to Daniel Stevens for making history as the first Indigenous graduate to wear full regalia at graduation since the new law was put in place. That’s bigger than just one day—it’s representation, culture, and pride all showing up together.

tshanúnyahtto Daniel and all his classmates. Wishing you all the best in whatever comes next. Keep going.

Official Statement of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians

In Loving Memory of Tribal Councilwoman Ella Kazik

It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians acknowledges the passing of Tribal Councilwoman Ella Kazik—a respected leader, a compassionate advocate, and a cherished member of our community.

Councilwoman Kazik dedicated her life to the service of our people. She carried her responsibilities with quiet strength, deep integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. Her voice at the Council table reflected both wisdom and humility, always guided by a steadfast belief in the importance of sovereignty, cultural preservation, and the future of our Nation.

Ella’s leadership was grounded in care for others. She worked tirelessly to ensure that the needs of our Elders were honored, our youth were uplifted, and our traditions were preserved for generations yet to come. Whether through policy, advocacy, or simply lending a listening ear, she embodied the values of respect, responsibility, and unity that define us as Mohican people.

Beyond her role in governance, Ella will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and her ability to bring people together. She understood that leadership is not only about decisions—it is about relationships, compassion, and the strength of community. Her presence will be deeply missed in our chambers, our gatherings, and our daily lives.

As we mourn this tremendous loss, we also give thanks for Ella Kazik’s life and legacy. Her contributions have left a lasting imprint on our Nation, and her spirit will continue to guide us in the work ahead. We honor her by carrying forward the principles she upheld and the path she helped to shape.

To her family, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers. We stand with you in this time of grief and remembrance, and we hold you close as part of our extended tribal family. May Ella’s journey onward be peaceful and may her memory remain a blessing to us all.

I’m going to say this once because clearly a lot of people are running with half a story.

Words actually have meaning. Calling something “harassment” doesn’t make it harassment—especially when the original situation involved my work being used without permission, which is a legal issue.

What’s happening now is a group of people piling on, spreading misinformation, and trying to paint a narrative without knowing the full context. That doesn’t make you right, it just makes it louder.

And let’s be real—some of you are now talking about interfering with my business and leaving reviews based on things that aren’t even accurate. That says more about you than it does about me.

I’m not going back and forth online. I’ve seen everything, and I have it documented.

If you’ve got something to say, come to me directly. Otherwise, stop spreading misinformation and involving yourselves in something you don’t fully understand.

I stand on my work and who I am. That doesn’t change because of a comment section.

So let me get this straight—
we’re closing down fisheries, and at the same time the state is taking legal action against tribal nations who are literally trying to protect what’s left of the fish… and your response is to promote a free-for-all fishing weekend?

What are we doing here?

People have been asking Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to raise license fees so we can actually fund conservation and protect these waters long-term. Instead, you open everything up for free and act like that’s helping?

That doesn’t line up with sustainability. That doesn’t line up with conservation. And it definitely doesn’t line up with respecting treaty rights or the people who have been managing these resources responsibly for generations.

If the goal is to protect Wisconsin’s lakes and fisheries, then the actions need to reflect that—because right now, this just looks backwards.

Free Fishing Weekend is June 6-7!

Wisconsin residents and out-of-state visitors can fish state waters without buying a fishing license, trout stamp or salmon stamp. However, please know all other fishing regulations, including bag limits, size limits and species restrictions, remain in effect.

There will be fishing clinics providing simple, hands-on instruction such as casting, knot tying, fish identification and basic fishing techniques for those new to this sport. Wisconsin DNR Tackle Loaner Sites located statewide has rods, reels and tackle for participants needing equipment.

If the government can talk about creating “retribution” funds for people convicted of storming the Capitol, then the question basically writes itself:

Where is the accountability and repair for the theft of Indigenous land, broken treaties, forced removals, and generations of harm that are still impacting Native communities today?

That isn’t about “punishing” anyone now—it’s about consistency. If we can find political will and taxpayer money for one group’s grievances, then ignoring centuries of documented, systemic harm against Indigenous peoples isn’t some oversight… it’s a choice.

So yeah—people should be asking why reparations, treaty obligations, and basic restoration for Indigenous nations always get treated as “too complicated,” while other political payouts suddenly become possible when it’s convenient.

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany said Jan. 6 defendants could be owed funds from Trump's new "weaponization" fund.
