I am one of the local drone operators for The Retrievers. We use thermal drones to help find lost dogs. It’s been an amazing experience.
April 25th is Drone Safety Day 2026!
We're excited to participate in FAA Drone Safety Day by sharing how we help reunite lost dogs and families with a focus on safety.
• CERTIFIED PILOTS — Our pilots are FAA-certified and receive initial training from Pilot Institute, the industry's leading drone training program. As a team, we have standardized safety-focused procedures to ensure all flights are safe flights.
• LOST DOG SPECIALISTS — We have years of experience with skittish and special needs dogs, helping us understand where to search first and how to safely catch them by hand.
• PROVEN EQUIPMENT — We fly DJI Mavic 3T, Matrice 4T and Matrice 4TD thermal drones. Our Matrice 4TD drones are rain- and snow-operations capable, expanding our ability to operate safely in the conditions common to our service area.
• BROAD REACH — We are where you are! We’re in Rochester, Faribault, Mankato, West Metro, North Metro, East Metro, St. Cloud, Fergus Falls, Fargo, Sioux Falls, Duluth, Aitkin/Crow Wing County (coming soon!) and Itasca County (coming soon!).
• SAFETY AND MONITORING — All drones are on a standardized inspection and maintenance program. One of our metro drones is also equipped with an FAA-certified Parachute Recovery System, allowing us to safely operate in more populated areas.
