The Bend of the River Photography Club We meet at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 720 South 2nd St., in downtown Mankato. The meetings start at 6:00PM. the fourth Thursday of every month.

Nan Hauser was swimming to record whale footage when a male humpback charged and began aggressively nudging her.

For roughly 10 minutes, the whale tucked her under its pectoral fin and pushed her across the water.

The humpback even lifted her completely out of the water on its head.

Hauser originally feared for her life until she spotted the massive tiger shark swimming nearby in an attack posture.

The whale safely maneuvered Hauser all the way back to her research vessel.

Our April speaker was Benji Inniger with BlueSu Photography
Benji has several interesting jobs all in connection with photography one way or another. He is truly an artist making beauty in many forms. Benji spoke tonight about Night & Low Light Photography. We saw photos of his work with the Milky way, night skies from across the world, as well as movement against the night sky. He gave several settings and hints for some of the best practices in nighttime shooting.
* 15 to 20 Sec. exposure.
* 14MM 1.8 wide lens
* Lens wide open
* Lowest F stop.
* Stability = Tripod
The best time to view the Milky way is from March to October with the peak being mid-July, in the southern sky.
While out shooting there is always the decision of Head & Heart.
You know the rules and then how artistic do you want to be.
Some of the things to think about are :
• Subject/foreground
• Desired Motion
• Light Pollution
• Softness
• Space Junk
