Let’s talk about something I’ve kept away from social media for a full year. (Kinda)

“Let’s Be Honest, You Killed Me For Sport” Self Portrait, 2026

Originally inspired by “Killed for Sport” by Baby Nova , this piece turned into something much more honest and vulnerable.
I won’t gossip or talk bad, so I won’t be specific, but I do want to share this because stories are so important. Today marks a year of being separated from an abusive ex of five years that took so much away from me. I wasn’t perfect within the relationship, but through reflection I learned a lot of hard truths about him. The physical and emotional abuse was intense, and the grief and pain this past year have been overwhelming at times.
In the image, the arrows aren’t about the moment of impact, but what’s already been endured. The body still holds itself, even in collapse. There’s no audience, just the quiet aftermath.
Through the support of my friends, family, and especially my partner, I’ve been able to heal in ways I didn’t think were possible. And in a strange way, I have some gratitude for my divorce. It taught me my own self worth. I had been believing a version of myself shaped by my partner and past relationships.
I’m grateful for what I’ve learned. I’ve never been better in my whole life. Thank you to my family, my friends, and the best partner I could have asked for, for helping me through this time. I love you Nat, Mom, Dad, Autumn, Andy, and Bridget.
The eclipse behind the figure feels like that in-between space. Where the light is hidden, but not gone. A shift. A becoming. If you are experiencing abuse or grief within a relationship don’t hesitate to reach out. You are loved and seen.
