Recently, I had the pleasure to photograph one of the newest working K9 teams here in Lancaster County! As you can imagine, I could barely contain my excitement, as we worked to create some amazing images for this team!

K9 FELICITY will be working within our court system, supporting victims and witnesses, who are called upon to testify. Testifying can be stressful for some, especially the younger ones, who are asked to recall facts and experiences about a traumatic incident.

K9 FELICITY is joined by a strong but compassionate handler, who brings a wealth of knowledge within the area of mental health and wellness. She is someone I’ve looked up to after attending one of her trainings several years ago. I have no doubt that these two ladies will have a positive impact as they move forward together!

A little bit about the image.

Most times, we get our best one from the unposed and unexpected, which is the case with this one. I wasn’t ready, and had a split second to grab it before she broke her momentary rest. I spent endless hours on this image, creating many versions, and this was my final pick. I have to say that I LOVE it!

Week four and the Alpha Pack K9s, LLC litter is coming in hot!

By four weeks, pups are hearing and seeing fairly well. Their major development at this stage is mobility. These guys and gals are playing and socializing with each other most of the day, in between their much needed naps. 😴

The other major change that occurs is the weaning process finishes up with the development of those baby shark teeth! Cue that song “Baby Shark!” All of the pups were transitioned from mush to more of a solid diet during the 3-4 week age as well.

As for the technical side of this round of photos, they are now beginning to focus and look to us when we call to them or make silly noises. They still aren’t perfect at sitting, but I believe this will improve as they learn there is a reward for holding their sit.

Technical talk about puppies, their portraits, and a little about development!

My husband and I spent a significant amount of time volunteering for a local rescue. We only fostered momma dogs and their pups, which allowed me to learn and grow in a way no book could ever teach.

I’m thankful for that time in my journey, and can appreciate the amount of work that reputable breeders put into their pups, both day and night. It’s a labor of love like no other you will ever experience. So many emotions are wrapped into those eight weeks. I have to admit, my favorite part was taking their pictures, and getting them ready for adoption day!

In February of this year, Alpha Pack K9s, LLC welcomed their very first litter! How exciting to know that 44 brand new paws had hit the ground running! That’s right, eleven pups! I was honored and readily accepted the challenge to capture weekly images of these nuggets from weeks 3-8!

Week three images are tough. Puppies are born with their eyes closed. They typically open between 10-14 days. Even after they open, their vision is still developing, so they aren’t seeing clear just yet.

What I DO know is that they see the photo lights! As you look at week three images, most of the pups are looking at the portrait lights, not at the camera.

At 3-4 weeks, the pups are generally hearing pretty well also. That brings on a whole symphony of odd noises that the helpers and I make, in an effort to get the pups to look at the camera. 🤣 I’m certain it’s pretty comical to those watching, but we do what works!

Keep watching for more fun photos to come! If you’re wondering who is my favorite, it’s the littlest of them all. Check out the guy with the hearts on top of the block. He was born seventh in the litter, which has earned him the name “Zeven.” 😍 🐾

Pet passing session

Words can’t describe the feeling of loss when saying your last goodbye to a pet.

As a photographer, it’s always been my passion to document love with images. I learned that early on from my mentor, Robin, and it always stuck with me.

As I build my business, I want to offer photography sessions that cover all aspects of life. Even the not so nice days. Truthfully, I want to do this my way, constantly thinking outside of the box to provide a unique, compassionate service.

I know first hand, that a dog’s love and bond with their human, is unmatched. When it comes time for those precious souls to cross over the rainbow bridge, I want to help you create lasting memories with thoughtful and appropriate images.

I am now offering a pet passing session. The session will include a consultation to determine if the pet is well enough to participate. The location would most likely be your home, where your pet feels most comfortable. The last thing we want to do is cause more stress or prolong any suffering for your pet.

Sweet Kimber crossed over the rainbow bridge today. 🌈 😭

Kimber’s family is like family to me, so this one hits home a bit more. Kimber was also one of our foster puppies a few years back.

If you’re a dog person like we are, keep her family in your thoughts. Run free sweet girl. We’ll see you on the other side.

Emoni and Daphne, I extend my warmest congratulations to you both on the occasion of your engagement. It was a true pleasure to witness your love, and capturing it through my lens was an absolute delight. This photo shoot was a profoundly heartwarming experience, serving as a poignant reminder of my passion for photography.

As the day unfolded, the cold weather became a distant memory, replaced by the magic of the experience. Set against the historic backdrop of Lancaster Market, with the cityscape as our canvas, we successfully captured your carefree and playful essence.

Upon entering Yorgo's Restaurant and Lounge, we crafted a captivating scene, leveraging its distinctive grainy black and white aesthetic to evoke memories of a bygone era.

As the afternoon light waned, we seized a particularly memorable moment - the 'almost' kiss - on the balcony, overlooking the vibrant city streets.

As you embark on your lifelong journey together, I offer one piece of advice. Never walk in front of your partner, nor behind. Instead, always walk side by side, basking in the joy of the good times and supporting each other through life's challenges.
