My office for now.

A laptop.
A cup of coffee.
California sunshine.

These quiet mornings look a little different these days.

Between editing photos, planning and dreaming about what’s next for Jen Donaire Photography, I’m learning to embrace this season of new beginnings.

Starting over in a new place can feel overwhelming, but when I look at the faces on my screen, I’m reminded why I’m doing it.

For the little hands I get to hold.
For the memories we’re creating together.
For the life we’re building as a family.

One day, this season will just be a story we tell.

For now, I’ll keep showing up, doing the work, and trusting that every small step is leading us exactly where we’re meant to be. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Today, my girls are looking out at a world they’ve never seen before.

New places.
New roads.
New beginnings.

My oldest is old enough to understand that life is changing.

My youngest is only months old, completely unaware that she’s traveling across the country and starting a new chapter before she’ll ever remember the old one.

and while they may not remember every mile, every hotel room, or every city we pass through, I hope they’ll remember how it felt.

The adventure..
The excitement.
The togetherness.

As I watched them sitting quietly by the window, I couldn’t help but wonder if years from now this will be one of those memories that finds its way back to them.

Not because it was extraordinary.

But because it was the beginning of a whole new chapter.

Moments like these are why I reach for my camera.

Not for the big milestones or perfectly planned memories, but for the quiet in-between moments that often become the most meaningful parts of our story.

The ones that don’t seem important at the time.

Until one day, they mean everything. 💕

I stood in the empty house for a moment before we left.

The walls were bare.
The rooms were quiet.
And somehow, it didn’t feel empty at all.

This home held so much life.

Late-night feedings.
Early morning coffee.
School mornings.
Editing sessions after long shifts.
Dreams that slowly became reality.

Birthday celebrations.
Backyard barbecues.
Friends gathered around our table.
Laughter echoing through these rooms long after everyone had gone home.

It’s where my girls grew.
It’s where this little photography business grew.
It’s where we learned, struggled, celebrated & made countless memories.

As excited as we are for California, leaving this home was harder than I expected. Not because of the house itself but because of everything it held.

Thank you, Ohio.

You’ll always be the place where some of our most beautiful memories & this dream of mine...first began. 💕

One last Ohio sunrise.

A quiet goodbye to the place that gave us so much to be grateful for, and a gentle hello to everything waiting for us ahead.

California, we’re on our way.

While waiting for my client, I took one last walk through my favorite photography spot in Marietta.

The ground was wet from the rain. The skies were gray. Everything was still.

I’ve walked these paths so many times before..scouting light, chasing sunsets, meeting families, and creating memories I’ll never forget.

This wasn’t just a photography location.

It was where a dream grew.

I didn’t realize then that this would be one of my last walks here.

Funny how the places that become part of your story are often the ones you never think you’ll have to leave.

Thank you, Marietta, for all the beautiful moments.

Childhood is made up of little things we don’t realize we’ll miss someday.

The uncontrollable giggles.
The spinning dresses.
The flowers clutched in tiny hands.
The way dads make their babies laugh without even trying.
The way moms are always the safe place they run back to.

And somehow, in the middle of all the chaos, parents quietly fall in love with these ordinary days over and over again.

Lately, photographing families here in Ohio has felt extra emotional knowing our own family is about to begin a completely new chapter in California.

It’s bittersweet leaving the place where so many beautiful memories and this dream of mine first began. 🥹

One of my last Ohio sessions before we begin our next chapter in California 🥹
And somehow this session felt like everything I love about family photography wrapped into one evening…

golden light,
little feet in the grass,
bubble wands,
sibling squeezes,
parents soaking it all in.

The kind of moments that feel ordinary now but someday become everything.

Messy hands, tiny giggles, paint everywhere… and moments they’ll look back on years from now and wish they could live all over again. The sweetest kind of chaos is the one shared with the people you love most.

Thank you for letting me capture these little moments that won’t stay little forever.
